At 14 years of age, I sold my horses and bought my first car. Car buying and selling became a passion for me from that point on. I always maintained that there were too many nice vehicles in the world to dr car. Car buying and selling became a passion for me from that point on. I always maintained that there were too many nice vehicles in the world to drive the same one all the time. Now, at age 52, I've owned nearly 50 different cars and trucks. I learned early on that trading with car dealerships was not in my best interest. In fact,I can count on one hand the number of times I drove a new or used car out of a dealership thinking that I had received an honorable trade. In fact, I can now count on one finger the number of times I drove away actually happy about the deal I received and the service provided. This was the time. I started out shopping on line and was immediately and very courtesly responded to by Aubrey Watts. Then, once I arrived at the dealership I met with Joel Weaver who was like meeting an old friend...for the first time...again. Joel showed me what I wanted to see, only what I wanted to see, explained things in detail as we went and patiently waited while I called my wife to come and take a look as well. Then it came time to talk about the business end of the trade. While Joel went to talk to the Sales Manager, Darren I believe, who tuned out to be a very nice fellow as well, I came up with my own "fair trade" number and prepared to do battle. You could have knocked me right out of my seat when Joel came back the first time and was already at my number. I was momentarily speechless. Even though we were already at my desired number, I asked them to increase the amount of my trade-in just out of habit and they agreed. The trade was made. I still had to drive my trade-in home that night in order to remove my personal belongings. I told my wife my only regret in the trade was not asking for free oil changes to be thrown in the deal. Now that the deal was done, I was confident it would be too late to ask for anything more. The next day when I arrived to pick up my new, previously owned car, there, sitting next to the keys was a sheet of paper containing check off boxes for a years worth of free oil changes. Car was freshly washed and full of fuel and I left a happy man. Not driving my new car though...wife showed up and took off with it! Can't have everything! Thanks to all for an enjoyable car trading experience! More
The aboved named persons were all involved in the purchase of our 3rd new Toyota in 4 years. Overall, it was a great experience to once again buy a new and trustworthy vehicle. This is our 1st Highla purchase of our 3rd new Toyota in 4 years. Overall, it was a great experience to once again buy a new and trustworthy vehicle. This is our 1st Highlander which is a hybrid like our 2 Camrys. We could not find a vehicle from another manufacture that came close to the Toyota. We have never experienced any serious problems with our 2007/2009 Camrys and knew we wanted our next SUV to be just as exceptional. Thanks. More
I had a very specific reason to buy: lowering my monthly payments. Jonny greeted me immediately and even though it was 25 degrees outside, he walked around that entire lot with me and let me check out ever payments. Jonny greeted me immediately and even though it was 25 degrees outside, he walked around that entire lot with me and let me check out every car I saw until I found the perfect one. He was SUPER friendly through the entire process. Mark helped me qualify for financing when I feared I wouldn't and spelled everything out for me before I signed it. Toyota of the Black Hills is an AWESOME team! More
I've been to this dealer twice and both times I enjoyed my experience. Both times I spoke with Joel Weaver, he was very knowledgeable about all the cars on the lot, and I did not feel pressured at all to my experience. Both times I spoke with Joel Weaver, he was very knowledgeable about all the cars on the lot, and I did not feel pressured at all to make a purchase. The first time at the Dealer I was pricing Camry's, but they only had the 2010 Camry's in stock which were a little out of my price range. The second visit to the dealer is when I finally purchased a car. I was bouncing back and forth between an Aloe Green 07 Camry with high miles, but good price and a Grey 08 Camry with low miles, but somewhat higher price. Joel gave me the xxxxxxand con's of both cars, and again I did not feel pressured to make a decision. I ultimately went with the 08 Camry with low miles for piece of mind since this was ultimately going to be my wife's car and the last thing I wanted was her car to break down leaving her stranded on the side of the road. I opted for the "certified" 7 yr/100,000 mile power train warranty, as well as the bumper-to-bumper 7 yr/100,000 mile "Wrap" warranty, at a great price. I paid less for both of these warranties on the Camry, than I did for my power train/bumper-to-bumper 3yr warranty on my Ford Edge. Joel took the time to explain the coverages of both warranties, which is pretty much everything on the car, minus normal wear and tear items. Coverage also covers 24 hr road side assistance which, again is a great piece of mind as I'm in the military and could deploy at a moments notice and I need to know my family will be taken care of in case of a breakdown. I financed the car through the dealer with a 2.9% APR, which is the lowest I have ever financed a car for. I co-signed the car with my wife (who just recently got her Social Security Number and had no credit what so ever), so I could build up her credit. The staff was more than helpful with this, and co-signing with my wife had no affect on my APR which I thought was great. Also, there were no hidden charges, and all costs were explained to me line by line, everything from how much taxes/registration at the DMV would cost, to how much I would pay in finance charges over the course of the loan. They told me what my no-kidding "out the door" monthly payment would be which is something I've noticed other dealers don't do. The paperwork didn't take long at all, and I even test drove the car to my house and back since I forgot my checkbook. It was a great experience, and the wife and I love the car. The service and professionalism at the Toyota of the Black Hills Dealer is top notch and I will more than likely purchase my next car from this dealer. More
Buyer Beware!!! The worst retail experience I have ever had!! Was treated like second hand citizen by the service department. Salesman did not stand up for us or try to help us. Basically I am not sure wha had!! Was treated like second hand citizen by the service department. Salesman did not stand up for us or try to help us. Basically I am not sure what he did to get his commission. He had to ask others for everything we wanted to know about the car. Very terrible experience next time I will drive to Denver if necessary to get real service. I just read the review above of this dealership and am completely shocked. My experience was significantly different. When I approached the dealership looking for a new van no one approached us right away as a matter of fact we had to go ask someone to help us which was very non-pressuring. When we were ready to buy the car I searched for what a good price would be and found edmunds.com which gave me the fair market value on the car I came in to negotiate and asked a little less than that. The dealer came back with a number that was $2000 over that so we left. The car was still there 2 weeks later so we came back and asked if they would give us the car for our price now. Nate went and talked to the sales manager and they decided they would give us the car with the Toyota certified used vehicle package for the Edmunds TMV. So we started going through the process of getting financing and everything. We finished up everything except we didn't have our checkbook to make the down payment so we told the financing guy that we would do it the next when we picked up the car. The car did have some minor things like dirt on the seats and stains as well as a missing cover for one of the cigarette lighters we wanted fixed before we picked up the car. We discussed these things with Nate the night before and he said he would get it taken care of. Another problem was the car only had 1/8th a tank of gas left. I told the finance guy about this he said they would not give us gas but to ask our salesman so I told Nate that we would like to not have to fill the car up before we got home and that I thought it would be poor form to give us a car without even filling up the tank. He said he would look into it. The next day we get there the car has been detailed the stain is still there and Nate tells us it is a defect in the fabric and can't be gotten out (I guess we will have to deal with it.) He did put a cigarette lighter into the hole. Now he shows us that there is only one keyless entry fob for the car. Last but not least of course there is no more than 1/8th a tank of gas. When Nate is confronted with this he shrugs and walks off leaving us with the keys. I (more correctly my wife) felt bad driving off without giving them the down payment so I go inside and ask Nate if he would like our down payment he says I thought you guys made it last night. Then He shrugs and takes our check to the cashier and comes back. I say can I please have a receipt (as they are apparently very disorganized and I don't want to get billed twice). So we leave with a bad taste in our mouths but fill comforted that we got a good car for a fair price. That night as we are trying to connect our GPS we notice that the cigarette lighter in front doesn't work we check everything, turn on and off the car, and check the cord in the other car; sure enough the problem is in the cigarette lighter. I look up what is covered in the 160 point inspection to make this a certified used vehicle. It lists the cigarette lighter functioning as one of the checks now I am concerned what other things they didn't check. I call the dealership the next morning and they have us bring in the car the service department treats us like second class citizens but does fix the problem. Another problem occurs after about 1 month of owning the car the temp tags are about to expire so I call the dealership to see where the paperwork is for us to get our tags, which I think is ridiculous that we have to go and do all the legwork for that ourselves I thought that was a perk of buying from the dealership. It happens to be Saturday when I call and am told that the business office staff is not in on Saturday's I will have to call back on Monday, When I ask to have her call me I am told to just call back on Monday. I forget to call back until Wednesday at night after work apparently the only person who can do this title work in the whole dealership works banker hours and is not there again. At this point I started to get upset because the temp tags expire the next day and we don't have a license yet. Finally they get us a loaner vehicle and someone tells the secretary that she had better do something about this so we get our title the next day. More
Before going to this dealer, I was apprehensive and annoyed about having to enter a facility where the salesmen circled and attacked like vultures. Where they knew nothing about the car and more about annoyed about having to enter a facility where the salesmen circled and attacked like vultures. Where they knew nothing about the car and more about spewing out lies in a rapid manner. <br><br>As I approached this facility though, I wasn't immediatly hounded. Instead, I was allowed to look and approach a salesperson in my own time. Dari met me with a huge smile and welcome. She answered every question I had and mentioned everything the dealer does for its customers before and after a sale. She didn't pressure me, treat me like a child, or fast talk me into complete confusion. Her personnality was so beyond excellent, I nearly forgot I was in a dealership. Not a sales tactic by the way, she cared more about my concerns then a sale. When a sale was made, Dari took care of everything for me - paperwork, registration, plates, insurance... EVERYTHING! What other place does that and then keeps in touch with you after the sale to check on you, your car, and answer any questions? None! But this one does and Dari goes way out of her way making this 5 STAR dealerhip the best in the tri-state area. <br><br>If you go, ask for Dari Guttman, deal with her as a salesperson if you want someone with a wonderful personality, who can make you feel at ease and whom you can trust. Tell her Kirstin L sent you. A+++ More
