Problem 1 - Occasional loud grinding/groaning noise coming from the brake pads when braking in wet conditions. Stopping distance is increased when this occurs. Very dangerous. Pads and rotors appear fine. Looked up problem online and found that this is a chronic problem with this vehicle. Some dealers replace pads and rotors to correct the problem (inferior pad composition?). Lee Hyundai said they could not recreate the problem (no duh), so nothing was done. Since my visit the problem has reoccurred during a heavy rain. Problem 2 - Water intrusion into the driver compartment near the hood release when the car is parked in a moderate to heavy rain. I could not recreate this at home and Lee Hyundai could not find the problem either and nothing was done. I was hoping that Lee Hyundai had seen this before and would have knowledge of a repair. The leak reoccurred while parked at work during the rainstorm mentioned in problem 1. Since problem 1 is a chronic problem with Elantras I'll be contacting Hyundai directly. More
