I generally don't mind the car buying process, but this one left me with a bad taste and I don't intend to buy my third Volvo at Courtesy. We researched our vehicle online, even made a spreadsheet. We to one left me with a bad taste and I don't intend to buy my third Volvo at Courtesy. We researched our vehicle online, even made a spreadsheet. We took into account the rebates being offered and the list price on Courtesy's website. Their own website reads "At Courtesy Volvo, we believe in transparency." So we negotiate the final price of our vehicle at which I exclaimed I won't pay more than this. So Frank, our salesperson, comes with a sheet with our negotiated price in large print and a small line item which reads 'items to be included in monthly payment include, nitrogen in tires, paint protection, door guards and front window tint. Mind you I never asked for any of these items. Never said "add tint, add door guards, ect..."Never said it. But hey, if they are included in the price I've already negotiated then bonus! Only thing is that they weren't. Additionally, I negotiated a sales price, not a monthly payment and I was very clear about this. We waited three hours after settling on a final price to be able to sign the paperwork. When we were finally brought in to sign with the Finance person I did not see the price we negotiated on our contract so I asked to see a detailed breakdown of the final numbers. There it was, my negotiated price plus an additional $1000 for the items I mentioned above and never said I wanted. It was so shady and untrustworthy. When I asked our salesperson, Frank, about it he said he forgets that customers don't realize what isn't included. What?! C'mon! No where on their website does it say additional charges will be added above the price. I looked immediately when I arrived home. And, who negotiates a final price not believing that is the FINAL price? I'm still angry over his manipulative tactic. Be very careful if you negotiate with this group. More

I should also mention the kid who drove me back to Anthem after my transaction was delightful. Didn’t get his name but he was tall and thin with blond hair and lives in Anthem. More

VOLVO XC90 BRAKE DEFECTS: We purchased a 2017 Volvo XC90 from this dealership at the end of 2017. A few weeks before our first maintenance vist at roughly 12k miles we started noticing an intense shaking wh from this dealership at the end of 2017. A few weeks before our first maintenance vist at roughly 12k miles we started noticing an intense shaking while driving on the freeway. So much so that we would pull over thinking something was broken on the vehicle. We live in Arizona so we took the vehicle to Scottsdale Volvo for maintenance. We we're told that they could find no issue in regards to the shaking but that our brakes we down to 20% life already. At 12k miles we had no brakes left. We asked them if that was normal to which they told us it depended on how we drove the vehicle. It has an "active" braking system they told us. Eventually we found out from one of the service techs that Volvo has a brake issue on the XC90. Basically if they do not use an organic (softer) pad, your brakes will sqeal like crazy. The problem is your brakes go out every year as a result of the organic pad, or twice a year if you drive alot. It's about $1100 for 4 new brake pads. We had our Volvo for a little over 2 years. About 40k miles in total on the vehicle. In that time we went through 9 rotors, and a few sets of brakes. And these we're not just worn rotors due to normal wear, they would end up being warped. One person we found online went through 2 sets of brake pads and rotors in 6 months. If you look hard enough you can find issues like this all over the internet for the XC90. Basically Volvo uses an organic brake pad to mask the real issue and then they tell you it's your braking habits and make you pay for it. But I've never heard of a vehicle that has brake pads that go out at 12k miles. And I would never consider that normal by any means. I've owned alot of vehicles but I've never had brakes go out sooner than 50k miles. It just seems bizarre that you would have to replace your brakes every year or "twice" if you drive alot. I have a truck that out weighs the XC90 by a long shot and I always get 80k miles out of those brake pads. Now, the brakes were just one issue we had. The intense shaking at high speeds was never resolved. And to my knowledge there's a few forums online for the same issue and no one has ever had any resolve. The problem was intermittent for us. You would be driving on the freeway and then all of the sudden you would feel this intense pounding like you had a cupped tire or something. We would pull over thinking something broke on the vehicle. We took it in to Scottsdale numerous times. They told us for them to fix anything we would have to duplicate the issue every time. And if we happened to duplicate the issue, they would try something and then if the issue persisted, they would require us to produce it again. With an intermitent issue, you can imagine how many times we took it in just to reproduce the issue. For us it would happen numerous times a week. We we're lucky to get it to happen on the day we took our vehicle in for the issue. We did reproduce the issue numerous times but Volvo could never figure it out. All they tried was force balancing all the wheels. They spoke to many of their engineers but never really did much. It got so bad that the car felt unsafe so we ended up getting rid of the vehicle. We lost $8k of our own money in doing so. One thing my wife and I commented on was, we never thought Volvo was this bad. We had always thought Volvo had a good name. But man, they we're so terrible. We did everything we could short of hiring an attorney. We called Orange County Volvo where we bought the vehicle to see what they would do. And all they did was try to sell us a new XC90. If I really got into the full story with all of this, my review would be pages long. And I don't normally post reviews of any kind, good or bad. But this experience has just been so terrible and we lost so much money on this vehicle. I would want to know of problems like this before making a purchase. I've never been treated like this from any manufacturer. We splurged on this vehicle with the R Design and all the extras but I have to say, this by far was the worst vehicle I have ever owned and the worst manufacturer by far. More
