This was honestly the most traumatic experience I’ve ever endured. As a young adult, the emotional damage from this experience even led me to the hospital. I had higher expectations from Honda’s Customer Ser endured. As a young adult, the emotional damage from this experience even led me to the hospital. I had higher expectations from Honda’s Customer Service and Sales team, but what I encountered was truly disheartening. Farhan Kamal, the General Sales Manager, and Vladimir Deronvil, the Sales Associate, came across as wolves in sheep’s clothing. After presenting a misleading deal, they treated me dismissively and made me feel like a nuisance when I sought clarification. When I tried to understand the misleading terms I’d been given—something especially important for me as a first-time car buyer—the response I got was being treated like an outsider and, shockingly, having the police called on me. I’m left questioning if my treatment was influenced by my age or the fact that I’m a gay Black man. It didn’t feel like this was about money, but rather about a lack of respect and an unwillingness to treat me fairly. Sadly, as a gay Black man, there are times when you’re seen as a “problem” simply for using your voice and seeking fair treatment. When you stand up for yourself, others may try to frame you as difficult, which is exactly how I felt here. Every employee, regardless of role, made me feel invisible and unheard, and that’s something that will stay with me. I urge others to be cautious, do thorough research, and really consider who you’re trusting in situations like this. More
