I went to Colonial VW because all of my local VW dealers were unable to obtain the vehicle I was buying, a VW GTi, in a reasonable amount of time. Colonial VW happened to be the closest one to me which had the color and options I want. Mike was great, I highly recommend him. He was fair and honest at every step and made no attempt to deceive me. Honestly he is about as straight forward as any sales person I've ever dealt with at a car dealership. So I bought the car, sight-unseen and out of state. The problem came once the deal was made. It was like all of a sudden I was irrelevant to the equation. They had a sale done, and they can take their time and work on their schedule. Who cares that I have to coordinate the car being delivered? Thats my problem, not theirs! From the moment I signed on that dotted line, the customer service became insulting. Shane's, the person who handled my finance, was always difficult to get a hold of and constantly late. I actually feel bad for Mike because he didn't get the sale counting toward Sept because Shane took several days to get back to me at any point in time. Shane told me he sent my paperwork after taking almost a week to sort out financing. The car got delivered and my paperwork was supposedly in the mail... After about another week (and almost two weeks after he claimed he sent them) it still hadn't arrived and he still hadn't returned my call. I called Shane everyday for almost a week straight, finally it got to the point where I had to call the owner. Of course then I found out that Shane had lied to me this entire time, the owner had the paperwork. This purchase was the biggest nightmare I've ever had buying a car. To be frank the way I was treated was disrespectful and left a horrible taste in my mouth that has actually spoiled my enjoyment of my car. After all is said and done I wish I would have bought something else... I was looking at Audis, Acuras, and a Nissan as well. No way any of those dealerships would have treat me so poorly. I wouldn't recommend Colonial VW, most certainly if you have to buy cars long distance. More
Excellent dealership. Honest. No pressure. Let the vehicle sell itself yet was able to demonstrate all the bells and whistles. They have taken care of me in a caring and professional manner. I will always mention to others if asked (where did I purchase my Eos.) Colonial VW of Westborough. The salesmen are not as important, in my opinion, as the service dept. The interaction between the salesmen is fleeting. The relationship between the customer and service department can be years. It is over 4 years for my Eos. Any way Thanks for taking the time to read this. And kudos to Colonial VW. Polly Finucane More

Yet, if there really is justice in the world, then let this evidence short, and pithy note be proof if its existence. As a high school English teacher, removing one brick at a time from the Wall of Ignorance., I live what I do, and it shows in my students grades, their excitement about English but, most importantly, I know years from now they may or may not remember what a subordinate clause is, or where a prepositional phrases is laced—but they will remember Sean McGinty. In essence, you teach who you are. The mechanics and literary tools become frosting on their high school experience. Let me explain what all of this has to co with Colonial VW. Washington politicians, lawyers, and car salesmen have in the last decade taken on an impossible and unfair reputation to shake. In a majority of those vocations/careers there is the underpinning of distrust. Shackles, tight and nearly impossible to shake are forever metaphorically attached to them. Yet, at times, we are all in awe of the character, especially for some reason the car salesman and business, displayed. This past summer, out of the blue I was diagnosed in full blown Parkinson’s disease. After feeling g very sorry for myself I accepter the disease and the impact it will have on my family: especially my seven year old daughter. Medicated, there are still times when its magnification comes out of the blue. Of course, it had to happen at Colonial VW. Early on a Saturday morning I wanted take another step with my right leg but couldn’t, not could I put my arm out to soften the fall. Like a sack of led I hit the pavement and split open several areas of this ole body. Bleeding, I still did not ant to go to the ER—I just wanted my car stickseed! The first on the scene was Adam, the service writer, at first determined I was conscious, then once I explained about the Parkinson’s, on my own was able to sit up and then stand up. The “spell” of Parkinson’s had gone as quickly as it arrived. Bringing me in the dealership to help clean me up and see how bad the cuts were, Adam was the epitome of skill and compassion. In language that was non-threatening, comforting, in fact, convinced me that there were only up sided to going to the ER. His concern was not, as so many times these days, born from a fear of litigation but real compassion. Next, Michael “Tony” a salesman on the floor volunteered to drive me to the ER. Having never, ever owned another make of car then a VW (even 6 years living in Ireland), floor time for a salesman is valued more then gold, as nothing can be sold if Tony was not there. He volunteered to drive me to the ER, waited to be sure I was going to be seen, gave me his cell number and returned to work. Later, once a skilled doctor had sewn back that which was bleeding and broken, Michael “Tony” returned to bring me back to my car and the dealership and my own VW. As all good stories must end at some point, so too must this one. The lesson in all of this is not the skill of the doctor, nor the politeness of Adam or Tony, but rather they were teaching me who they were. They know plenty about cars and financing, but those of us who are the customers rarely, if ever, are privileged to see the character behind the person, the Colonial employee. I would suggest that a good reason to use any of the services at Colonial is clearly competence and skill, but, more importantly, because people like Adam and Tony represent everything that is good about buying a car. As they say: “You are not what you say, but rather: what you do!” Actions form character, rarely words. I am grateful for what and how they helped me that Saturday. The written word barely comes close enough to fully expressing my gratitude for them that day. However, like the teacher who really doesn’t teach English but who he is. Any association with either of these men is a gift, and has very little to do with financing, trade-ins, or fair market value. The car or the service provided is a derivative, an offshoot of the essence of the real exchange—trust where you would least expect it. With gratitude, Sean McGinty Groton More

Second time I bought a VW from Colonial Volkswagen of Westborough! The main reason I continue to buy my cars now only from Colonial VW is not because I know I’m getting the best Deal but also because I’m Westborough! The main reason I continue to buy my cars now only from Colonial VW is not because I know I’m getting the best Deal but also because I’m getting the best service when I bring my cars in. I went in a few weeks ago to just look at the New 2012 VW GLI to see if it was something I wanted to trade in my 2008 VW R32 for and right there I knew I could live with getting the GLI. Mike Lodowsky never pressured me into buying a new car that day or making my experience want to go elsewhere. He was able to get me to what I wanted to pay and we got a deal done that way. I would not think twice about sending family and friends to go see Mike at Colonial VW of Westborough because I know they will get treated they way they want to be treated and not having someone over their shoulder every second. I just know with this dealership I get the best service when I’m buying a car and when I start bring the car in for service. Thanks Mike and Colonial for making buying a new car as easy as possible. He was very easy to talk to and he made sure to explain every experience. Working with Mike Lodowsky made the car buying experience very enjoyable. He was very easy to talk to and he made sure to explain everything to me in full detail. Because this was my first car, it was comforting to know that he was willing to help me out so much in the process. He introduced me to the service guys who were also very helpful and explained everything I needed to do to keep my car running to top shape. I would highly recommend Mike and Colonial VW. More

I was never given an explaination to questions that I did not understand completely. From the phone service to the parking lot man, each was friendly and polite. The service department, where I met Bill Mcgrath, is very efficent. My car was taken at the agreed time and it was ready to go in the time expected. I had an experience with the trunk release did not function one day. I had inadvertantly damaged it. It was 4PM on a Saturday! I called in panic as there were things I need to remove from the trunk that day. Bill answered right away and had me come in immediately. Fixed in 20 minutes! My next car may well be a VW!! More
