Went to purchase a new f250 lariat crew cab single wheel truck after work, Was greeted by a salesman I told him to get the keys to the truck I had plans on purchasing. He chuckled and told me andI quote " y truck after work, Was greeted by a salesman I told him to get the keys to the truck I had plans on purchasing. He chuckled and told me andI quote " you cant afford this truck lets go look at some used rangers". Little did he know I was going to pay cash for the truck and finance a second one. When I told him my intentions he stopped me long enough to try to smooth things over with the sales manager or something. Needless to say I took my business elsewhere, somewhere who wanted to help me buy the trucks I wanted. DO NOT GO TO CLONINGER FOR ANY VEHICLE NEEDS !!!!! More

I have been a long-time customer of Hilbish Ford. When I went to purchase a new pickup truck, I was not pleased with their prices. I drove to Salisbury and met Lawrence Phillips. He gave me his best price went to purchase a new pickup truck, I was not pleased with their prices. I drove to Salisbury and met Lawrence Phillips. He gave me his best price on the trucks that I was considering. He did not rush me or try to persuade me to make a decision "today". He explained all of the new features on my new truck and made sure that I understood how to use them. I will shop with Mr. Phillips again. He is very accessible before and after the sale. Many thanks, Jerry Lambert More
I totaled my 2006 Fusion SE that I purchased used elsewhere in 2007. I had wanted a Mustang, but it was too impractical. Still I would visit the dealership dreaming about Mustangs and Vince was alw elsewhere in 2007. I had wanted a Mustang, but it was too impractical. Still I would visit the dealership dreaming about Mustangs and Vince was always respectful and very pleasant. So, when looking to replace my totaled car I had a chance to decide again. After considering other cars, I again came back to the Fusion. I liked the 06 to 09 body styles. As it turned out, a clean used Fusion is not so easy to find. They had one at Cloninger and after a little negotiation it was mine. Vince was unable to be there the second day, so Ray finished up the paperwork. Someday I hope to buy that Mustang from Vince, but for now just enjoying the replacement 06 Fusion SEL. More
I realized after purchasing my 2006 Fusion SEL from Vince in sales that the backup lights didn't work. It was a couple of days after I bought the car so I really didn't expect much to be done (not under war in sales that the backup lights didn't work. It was a couple of days after I bought the car so I really didn't expect much to be done (not under warranty), but Vince suggested I talked to John Cloninger and I am really glad I did. John told me to bring it in and they would look at it. I took it back that Friday, dealt with Melanie in service, they diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. A few days later, received an email the part was in and made an appointment with Melanie and January 2nd it was installed and working great. I can't say how much I appreciate Cloninger standing behind a used car after the sale! More
For 2 months, I have been visiting the USA where my parents live. I have been using their 2004 Ford Taurus, with about 46,000 miles. The car was running rough and needed a tune-up. I was in NC for a fe parents live. I have been using their 2004 Ford Taurus, with about 46,000 miles. The car was running rough and needed a tune-up. I was in NC for a few days and took it to Cloninger Ford. It costs nearly $500 for a service that replaced plugs and a coil. Immediately after leaving the dealership, I noticed that the LED odometer/trip-meter was not visible in normal daylight. I thought they had somehow turned down the dimmer switch for the dashboard, but it turned out that the dimmer adjustment does not affect the odometer -- which only has two brightness levels based on whether the headlights are turned on or not. I immediately called on my cell phone and was instructed to turn around and come back to the dealership. I did. The technician, who had worked on the car, looked at it and banged on the top of the dashboard to see if he could get the readout to be visible again. He spent less than 3 minutes looking at the problem, said that there was nothing he could have done to cause the problem, and then just left. I asked to see the service manager. The SM said the same thing repeatedly: “We didn’t cause this problem, and I won’t fix it.” He eventually began to back away from this by stating that he needed another 2004 Taurus to compare the odometer to, as he didn’t know if this was normal or not. It seems to be common these days to dismiss a problem by calling it normal. Even the technician who had banged on the dashboard realized, since the odometer was not readable in normal daylight, that something was obviously wrong. There is something wrong, the odometer can only be read in the complete darkness (i.e., at night). The Service Manager eventually offered to have a technician look at the problem, adding that nonetheless, he would not fix it. I said this was at least a step forward, as we could find out what the problem was. He was back just a few minutes later stating that the odometer had both power and was grounded and that he was “done with me.” He never diagnosed the problem. It is obvious that something happened while the car was being serviced that caused the brightness level of the odometer to get stuck in the dim setting. I feel I have been ripped off, because, not only is the car from out of state, I was from overseas. He knew I would not be back, and therefore he did not need to be concerned with me. Cloninger Ford needed to do the right thing – take responsibility for something that happened while the car was in their workshop, figure out what was wrong, and find a way forward to getting it fixed. They did none of that. More
