Stolen items off my car. Where do I start? I brought my 2013 BRZ in for the valve spring recall at the beginning of this year. About 1,600 miles after they replaced the valve Where do I start? I brought my 2013 BRZ in for the valve spring recall at the beginning of this year. About 1,600 miles after they replaced the valve springs I spun a bearing. This appears to be a common issue after the recall due to either the RTV from the timing cover being scraped off and falling into the oil pan or applying to much RTV to the timing cover during installation and plugging up the oil pick up causing oil starvation. I had the car towed back to the dealership after spinning a bearing and they told me nothing they did could of caused oil starvation. After showing them the people on forums that had similiar problems they agreed to look at the car and would call me back with what they found. I was never told the cause of the spun bearing but they immediately agreed to replace the engine but I had to pay a $1,000 deductible for the engine. At this point I was starting to get frustrated that I have to pay anything at all but I felt I could not argue to much due to having a tune (80k miles with the custom tune and no issues) as well as having just an aftermarket header on the car. I agreed to pay the deductible and asked for work to begin. After almost 2 months the short block was replaced and I went to pick up my car. Upon jumping in the car I noticed my custom engraved shift knob was missing as well as my phone mount. There is also a chemical etching in the clear coat of the roof of the car. The tech that worked on my car tried to tell me that he never saw the shift knob in the car (it was there when I reflashed the PCM back to stock shortly after dropping the car off) and upon speaking to the manager I was told he would look into it and assured me it would be taken care of. He made it sound like it may be laying around the shop even though the transmission was never removed and there is no reason for the shift knob to have been removed from the car. He asked me to text him pictures of it and I have not heard back from him since I have picked up the car. At this point I also suspect my Craftsman code reader was stolen from the glovebox although I am not 100% sure it was in the car. The car was at the dealership for so long that I am not sure what all was left in it and have not noticed anything else yet. The dealership assured me the car was locked at all times it was parked outside (if someone broke into the car they would of stolen alot more than those two items). I believe a tech or someone with access to the shop stole the parts out of my car. More
