First of all I bought the works package not just an oil change! And when I asked the tech if he checked the brakes he said yes which I replied I didn’t see you look at the brakes! His response was oh I forgot and then pulled the wheels back off and checked. Not to mention the shield he removed from under the transmission for what reason I still don’t know? And of course the bolts where to corroded to reinstall so the shield went home with me in the bed.

I'm sorry for the confusion. Even in The Works package, we don't check transmission fluid, differential fluid, etc. Those are sealed units. There's really no checking. They have specific service intervals that they need to be replaced, but there isn't a check interval. As far as the technician not checking the brakes, that's inexcusable. It is part of our multi-point inspection, and should never be skipped. The shield under the engine and front snout of the transmission must come off to access the oil drain plug. It's very common in the Midwest for the hardware to corrode terribly because of the salt on the roads in the winter time. On some vehicles, cars specifically, this shield comes loose while driving due to the short screw/bolts breaking. The shield performs no particular task except to keep any type of vehicle oil/fluid from dripping onto roads.
