Probably the worst car buying experience I have ever had. Went to dealship in January, just to get an estimate for my 2013 Soul, saw a Kia Seltos and thought that might be an option. We could not drive one, Went to dealship in January, just to get an estimate for my 2013 Soul, saw a Kia Seltos and thought that might be an option. We could not drive one, only got to sit in one.as others (3) had been purchased. Craig suggested we order one, put down a deposit, and it would be about 2 months and bottom line price would be $30,000.We left with no paperwork, only a receipt for the deposit of $500.00. The car came in April 7, which was a Thursday. We went to the dealership, and this was the first time we saw paperwork, After the down payment ($6000.00) and my trade in ($7000,00) I was still concerned about the monthly payment. I asked if we could think about it till later that afternoon and was informed” there are 4 people waiting on the list for this car. And the only reason we held it is you had a down payment”. They got the payment down by adding months to the loan and then we went in to see Davis(finance ) dept. We left that evening with the car. I drove the car to school and back home after finding out I would probably not have a position the next school year. We immediately drove to the dealership (.not 24 hours later) and simply asked for them totaled the car back,return my deposit and give me my 2013 Soul back. Ed the Sales Manager came in an said” We do not have a return policy, you will get a job, I am sure of it, go enjoy your car”. I am 69 years old, my husband is 80 and only gets Social Security. This was an extenuating circumstance. He just said “sorry we have no return policy”. He did offer me $1000.00 for the car. I was also told the loan had gone through and could not be cancelled(not what I was told byCapital One whom I called Saturday, April 9) If the dealership agreed and would co-operate it could be done) Ed informed me he would not even speak to Capital One even if I called them ( and he did not). Asked to speak to Mr.O’Neal the General Manager and he could not be located or we were told they would give him a message (Mary the receptionist took our number Saturday and we have yet to hear from him 4-16-22). Ed did offer us to trade in the car on a pre- owned one to lower payments but all were not acceptable-I just wanted my Soul returned to me. We finally saw a MSRP window sticker tag and the car price was $27,440.00 and the selling price was $37,063.16. That is a big difference. This is before TT&L, trade in, deposit and $4000.00 warranty were put on. Worst car buying experience EVER,,!! Car is sitting my garage with 88 miles on it. Where are the 4 people in line waiting to buy the car? The dealer should have been on the phone Friday April 8, calling them and trying to help 2 people me and the person wanting the car. This is our second Sportage from Kia of Plano! We had positive experiences both times. The service department has been very helpful, too. We also appreciated hearing from corporate on occasion. In addition, I purchased a Kia Rio for my handicapped friend 2 years ago. It was simple for her to master the controls and hasn’t given her any problems. We highly recommend this dealership. More
