Poor customer service Brought my 2012 Elantra 80K miles in Saturday afternoon. Monday they called and said it needed a starter.REALLY? The factory battery lasted longer tha Brought my 2012 Elantra 80K miles in Saturday afternoon. Monday they called and said it needed a starter.REALLY? The factory battery lasted longer than the starter?! I've got Chevys with over 150K and never put a new starter OR fuel injector (see next issue) in them. Thought a Hyundai was reliable? So, they couldn't get a starter in town...haha...I told them Autozone could get me one...they said they couldn't warranty it....Let's see what the Hyundai warranty is, cause the Autozone starter (155$ vs dealers 357$) comes with a LIFETIME warranty...anyhow, I called Tuesday night to pick it up and it wasn't ready...Then they call Wednesday and say the car stumbles when it has been sitting and you go to start it. THAT WAS THE ISSUE WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN !! Needs new injector...UGH !!!! I'll just take it home and put an injector in myself, RIGHT BEFORE I DUMP THIS xxx....Figures right after 60K service and warranty expiration, this HYUNDAI starts crapping out...AND, what's with 50K/5 yr or 100K/10yr warranty? Who puts only 10k on a year? It's a subliminal gimmick to make you think the car will last awhile. Do yourselves a favor people, BUY American...They are just as "reliable" and they support the american economy....So, anyway, I pick my car up Wednesday night, and notice it was all spotted up from Monday's rain. They must have had my car outside....AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN GIVE IT A COURTESY WASH.... Disappointed in Hyundai... UPDATE !! So, I brought my 2010 Elantra over to HENDERSON Hyundai as I was mad that CENTENNIAL Hyundai took four days to replace a starter and then called and told me my #1 injector was leaking, causing the car to start poorly, run rough, and throw codes(the original problem I brought it in for). HENDERSON Hyundai looked at the paperwork CENTENNIAL gave me. They proceeded to do a leakdown test on the fuel rail. NO LEAKY INJECTORS. They then did a compression test and found #4 cylinder dead. They removed the cylinder head and confirmed that valves in cylinder 4 were bad...covered by warranty , they offered me a loaner, and said they would take care of it as soon as possible. They were suprised to see CENTENNIAL's diagnosis and even further confused as to the starter replacement. They suggested I go back and fight it and ask for the old starter back. So, I talked to the Service Manager at Centennial. He said the diagnosis was probably just entered wrong on the paperwork, and the starter must have failed after I dropped it off, watched them start it, and drive it into the service bay. He also said he couldn't give me the old starter back as they needed a core. WHY? I paid for it, and he told me they don't rebuild/remanufacture starters. Sounds like a shady character covering his xxx. I waited 4 days for them to even put the starter in, I told them HENDERSON Hyundai had one and he said they could only get it there if HENDERSON let them. HENDERSON Hyundai's first concern is customer satisfaction, and they would have gladly provided one and got me on the road. CENTENNIAL Hyundai DID NOT want me to have the old starter and have it tested, nor did they offer to test it in front of me. Sneaky, deceptive, service managing. He said he wasn't going to do anything for me, and I'm certainly not going to do anything for them. I'm 52 years old, and this is the first time I've ever set out to warn people of terrible service or practice. I've signed up for numerous review sites, yelp, google, etc to spread the word. An apology, a car wash, and a starter refund would have done them alot of good. I have bought 4 cars from Hyundai since 2012, 3 for myself, and 1 for our company. Now that I live in the Northwest, I will still take the drive to HENDERSON Hyundai where I feel the staff is talented, trained, professional, and honest. Qualities I have not seen in the Northwest. By the way, HENDERSON Hyundai offers free car washes and oil changes for the LIFE of your car..That's alot of savings. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR, AND GO TO HENDERSON.....YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID. More
