Worst Car-Buying Experience Ever ABSOLUTELY the biggest car-buying mistake I've ever made is 1) Buying a VW and 2) Buying it from this dealership. I bought a 2014 Passat Wolfsburg Edi ABSOLUTELY the biggest car-buying mistake I've ever made is 1) Buying a VW and 2) Buying it from this dealership. I bought a 2014 Passat Wolfsburg Edition 18 months ago. When I test drove the car, the brakes squeaked like crazy. The salesman said "don't worry about it - we'll take care of it". After COUNTLESS trips to the dealership, BS answers and frustrating phone calls, they literally handed me a brochure and said "this is normal brake operation - these brakes are not defective". I traded in a 10 yr old Ford Escape with 150K miles and the brakes worked GREAT! I spent HOURS on the phone with various unhelpful people and finally had to contact the owner of the dealership who was able to get my car serviced properly and the brake squeak to stop. Fast forward another 8 months or so ... I've paid down the loan on my car as quickly as possible so I can get out from under this car (the resale on these cars SUCKS!) After a few trips to other dealerships over the weekend, I was told repeatedly that my car is part of the Takeda air bag recall and cannot be sold retail and must be wholesaled and therefore is worth considerably less on trade. I called VW Schumburg and asked for help\advice. The Service Manager (Ken) 0literally told me "I don't know anything about that, you should just call around to dealerships until you find one that will take it on trade" - So I demanded to speak with someone in charge. John Gomes (New car manager?) got on the phone. Extremely condescending - and told me basically that the only way he would help me is if I trade in my car for another VW from their dealership! HAHAHA! I would rather WALK the 20 miles to work every day! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - Once they sell you a car - they will NOT stand behind it!!! Update: Just prior to posting this review, I did receive a call from Frank the GM who told me that my mistake was not calling him first. LOL, you would think he should be able to count on his other people in charge to answer questions a bit more professionally. He told me to bring the car in for an "assessment" so they can make me an offer to buy it from me. I am anticipating a wasted trip, but will give them one last chance. Never, ever EVER will I buy another VW and certainly never from this dealership. You've lost a customer forever. More

Horrible experience with the service department I almost never write reviews, but this has been the worse experience I have ever had with a dealer (and I have dealt with many of them!). I brought my car because my A/C comprenssor was not working. I told them that I had gone to Jiffy Lube previously to refill the A/C but they were not be able to make it because the comprenssor was broken). The person who assisted me just said: 'That is because they do not know how to do it'. I left my car there and after 45 min they called me and said that they tried to recharge the A/C but it was not working because of the comprenssor... They made me pay $355 for hearing what I had already said. Also they told me that replacing the comprenssor was $1,800 while other dealers gave me a budget of $800 for the same work... I just feel my money has been stolen here so I do not recommend this place at all. More

Great sales person - Pete Mourtokokis I had been looking for a car for about a week. I went to Fox Valley VW in Schaumburg and met Pete, he is very different from all of the other sales pe I had been looking for a car for about a week. I went to Fox Valley VW in Schaumburg and met Pete, he is very different from all of the other sales people I erver met thta week or any other time. He is kind and attentive. Took his time involved others, did not pressure me. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything, took me for a test drive and explained all the features in all the vehicles. I canme back three times. In between I went to other dealers. At the end of the day it was Pete that sold me on the car and Volkswagom. I will recommend others to work with Pete and will certainly work with him in future purchases. Thank you Pete! More

I still wanted a wagon and decided to go with Golf Wagon. Matt and John were extremely helpful throughout my several months ordeal deciding whether we were going to get a used car or new. We decided on new car - they went out and found the model in the car and features I wanted. They had it shipped to their location. They had most of the paperwork completed before I even got to their location. I was very satisfied with my experience. More

Great Experience Purchasing a New Volkswagen I first came to Fox Valley VW Schaumburg to test drive a potential replacement car following an accident. I test drove the car of my 16 year old self' I first came to Fox Valley VW Schaumburg to test drive a potential replacement car following an accident. I test drove the car of my 16 year old self's dreams - a red VW Jetta. I did not purchase the 2013 Jetta I test drove because all of the issues regarding the accident were not resolved. After a month of research and test driving 5 other vehicles (2015 Jetta, 2015 Golf GTI, 2013 GTI, 2015 Golf TSI, 2014 Suburu Impreza Hatch) I finally decided upon which car model I would buy. Even though I had visited Fox Valley VW on two separate occasions for test drives - no one ever pushed me into a sale. They truly wanted me to be happy with my car purchase. This is one of the biggest reasons I came back to this dealer when I decided I wanted a 2016 Golf GTI S. Matt and John worked very hard to help me get me into the car I wanted for a price I could afford. They even found the color I wanted, since it was not currently on their lot. Since purchasing my Tornado Red Golf GTI S, Matt hasn't stopped helping me. He's been there to answer all my questions about the car as well as wrap up everything post purchase. It's really great to have a salesperson who supports you after your sale. I am so grateful that I was able to work with Matt and upgrade my dreams from a 2007 Tornado Red Jetta to a 2016 Tornado Red GTI! Thank you Fox Valley VW Schaumburg! More

I have gone and visited the other VW dealers around town and have found Fox Val Ive actually been a client of this location for years. Out of choice. I have gone and visited the other VW dealers around town and have found Fox Valley to be extremely reliable, knowledgeable, and efficient at the services they provide. I just purchased a new GTI. The conversation from the beginning to the end was really enjoyable. They worked with me to reach what I wanted both in the vehicle and in price. They actually showed a caring attitude and a huge interest. Matt and John were extremely courteous and knowledgeable about the cars. I had visited with other VW dealerships and they weren't coming across that way. I would recommend the Fox Valley VW dealership to anyone. Car buying is a tough thing to swallow - but these people really work a making it a good business decision. More

Great experience with the Service Department I found the service at Fox Valley VW to be outstanding. I brought in my 2012 Beetle with a check engine light concern. The part that was causing the problem was 5 months beyond the warranty period, but they fixed it at no cost as a good will gesture. They also fixed two other potential problems, again, all at no charge. They even vacuumed out my car! Ryan was terrific at keeping me informed as to what was happening the whole time. They exceeded my expectations and I will be a return customer when the need arises. More

It was almost like the experience that you would get at a Luxury car dealership. We were recommended by a colleague who leased from here a Passat - the price and experience he got were exceptional and no wonder why he recommended us going here. More
