Joe Cardona the Manager, assigned Frank Azan to me as my sales rep. Frank was just fantastic! He was patient, enthusiastic and easy to work with. He was not pushy or overbearing. I traded in two vehicle sales rep. Frank was just fantastic! He was patient, enthusiastic and easy to work with. He was not pushy or overbearing. I traded in two vehicles for a new 2012 Town and Country. Joe gave me a very fair trade in value for my two vehicles. Frank showed me every inch of my new minivan. He even set up my Sirius radio presets and synced my cell phone to the vehicle's Bluetooth. He was very knowledgable about the vehicle and didn't miss a thing! I have purchased over 18 vehicles in my 30 some years of driving and I have had no better service than on this day! I knew it would be a long day, but Frank and the rest of the staff did not waste my valuable time. I couldn't be happier! I have never tipped a sales rep before, but I did today. Well done Frank! After researching the fair market trade-in value of my vehicle and looking at the inventories of the few Jeep dealers in my area, I decided to visit Carman. I had obtained an "internet price" for a Wrangl vehicle and looking at the inventories of the few Jeep dealers in my area, I decided to visit Carman. I had obtained an "internet price" for a Wrangler that I thought was reasonable (although the "internet" salesman contacted me daily--I joked that I had a stalker). On the day of my visit the salesman initially offered almost $3000 less than the Kelly Blue Book trade-in value for my vehicle, explaining that they could only offer "auction value" for it. The 7 year old Jeep Liberty had only ~43K miles, new tires, brakes, a clean engine and interior and was in resale condition. That exact same morning I received an email titled "We want your trade here at Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge" from the dealership saying, "I wanted to let all my customers know right away that we are currently offering even higher dollar amounts for trade-ins to help fill our depleting used car inventory." An apparent contradiction. When I mentioned this, the salesman essentially blew off the contents of the email. After going back and forth for some time, including dealing with a condescending "manager" named Bob who kept harping on the difficulty of his problem selling my 6 speed manual (while trying to sell me a Wrangler with a 6 speed manual!), we stated the trade in value that we would accept which was about $750 below the KBB value. The salesman and his "manager" would not accept this and we left. Within a couple of days the salesman called me to entice me to make the sale. When I called back, he appeared to pretend to be talking to his "manager" and was still low-balling on the trade in. When I declined, all of a sudden, he said he could probably talk his manager into accepting the price we indicated we would accept on the day of our initial visit. Had they accepted it then, my experience wouldn't have been nearly as negative, but it got worse. On the day we were to return to make the sale, I indicated to the salesman via email that I needed a front license plate holder for the DE surf fishing tag (my trade in had the front license plate holder). His emailed response was "no problem". When we came back to the dealership to complete the sale, the salesman seemed entirely disinterested and just dropped paperwork on the desk with the briefest of comments and walked away. The finance manager, John Mayberry, was personable and the only bright spot in the experience. He was a delight to deal with and the only person at the dealership who seemed interested in a positive customer experience. In the final walk-through, the salesman glossed over the checkpoints and didn't even know basic information about the vehicle he was selling (such as where the jack was located-my wife had to tell him!). I noticed at that point that there was no front license plate holder. When I asked him about it (after receiving assurance that it was "no problem"), he told me to screw it into the front bumper or I would need to order the part from them. Bear in mind that my trade in already had the mount. I wish I had kept it at this point even if it didn't fit. After the horrible experience thus far, I just wanted to leave and didn't press the issue. That evening I received an email from the manager, Joe Triboletti at the dealership with the subject line, "How was your experience with Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge?". I related that it was not positive and explained the front license plate situation as an example. The response from Joe Triboletti two days later was another generic email with the subject line, "Thanks again from Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge" extolling their "highest level of customer service from the moment you arrive at our doorstep" without addressing my concerns in any way. One week after purchasing my Wrangler, I received a survey regarding my "recent service experience" with Carman for the vehicle I traded in! Apparently they performed some sort of service on the vehicle I traded in and reported it as if I was the owner. Needless to say, I rated them low. Only after completing this external survey with a negative rating did Joe Triboletti decide to contact me requesting "a time sit down and discuss your concerns about our dealership." At that point I had had enough of them. I advised him that it was past time for this and I just wanted my tag and registration. When I went in to pick up my tag, he had the nerve to say "I'm the guy who you wouldn't respond to emails from". Since it didn't seem to be a concern of his prior to my negative survey response, I just requested my tag & registration. In sum, I would definitely NOT recommend this dealership unless there were no other options. The dealership that I purchased my Liberty from was good enough for me to recommend, which resulted in another sale for them. Carman will not get that benefit from me. More
