The service department at Byers has been on the decline. I've been frustrated for a while with their low standards given they are the dealer but now its just gotten worse. I think the core of the issue is I've been frustrated for a while with their low standards given they are the dealer but now its just gotten worse. I think the core of the issue is they lack attention to detail, which makes the service at times look shabby or incompetent. They then use excuses to cover up for this problem. I now take my business elsewhere unless only the dealer can fix the problem and then I cross my fingers. Here's a few service examples that my wife or I had to endure recently to give some context. I went in to get a routine oil change. However I was told the tech observed a coolant leak on the engine block of my truck. I therefore was told I need to replace my head gasket as a cost of $4K. Naturally that scared me so I call some 3rd party shops for estimates along with a 2nd opinion. The mechanic asks me why I think I need to replace my head gasket. I gave the shop the paperwork I had received from Byers stating this condition. I then was asked if I was verbally told of any other steps Byers took since the paper work was inadequate. I told him this was from a visual inspection and no other information was given. What I learned that day is your supposed to perform a carbon test before you conclude that the head gasket has failed. No such test was run by Byers. In fact when this independent shop ran a carbon test on my truck it passed. The head gasket didn't fail. I called back the service department at Byers to complain but it was brushed aside. The tech's conclusions would have been doubled checked by the mechanic is the excuse I was given. Thanks for scaring me and yea I don't believe you. My wife bought 4 tires from Byers. Recently one of the tires had low pressure so she took it back to the dealership. Turns out the tire bead sealer failed on one tire. Mind you all four tires experienced the same conditions but only one failed. Most likely due to an install issue. Yet my wife had to pay for this mishap. For her troubles Byers lost the valve cap on the tire they fixed. I have several other examples I can cite but hopefully you get the point. More

I have taken my Toyota Tacoma to Byers Service Center since buying my truck from the two years ago. Everything has been easy peasy from scheduling online to picking up after hours!
