Disappointing I purchased a used vehicle at Bryan Chevrolet a few weeks ago, after finding it listed online. There were a few issues that arose after the sale that turned a good experience into a bad one. I don’t live nearby this dealership, so I probably would never buy a car here again anyway, but after this purchase, I can’t recommend them to anyone else either. First of all, I normally get a car inspected before the purchase. I informed the salesman when I arrived, and he assured me that it had already been through a thorough inspection - so I would be wasting $100 to get it inspected. Against my better judgment, I decided to skip the inspection after driving the car myself for about 20 minutes. My advice to future buyers - pay for the inspection. Two days after I bought the car, the check engine light came on, which was for a bad catalytic converter. Yes, it was an as-is sale, and no, I didn’t purchase a warranty. The salesman said they didn’t know of that issue – I’ll leave it up to you to guess if I believe that. When I contacted the salesman, his message from the manager was “Sorry, bought as-is.” Very disappointing that a car can’t make it more than two days before the check engine light would come on. The second issue was the keyfob. The previous owner only had one, so I asked for a second one to be part of the purchase. The manager agreed to that, and mentioned something about cutting me a check to get one. I called my local Ford dealer, who said that it would be about $325 for a new one - $175 for the keyfob, $25 for the key, and $125 to program it to the car. When I told the salesman what they said, he said that his manager probably had an arrangement with a local dealer that would get a better price than that. He said that it could be programmed off the VIN, even without the car present. That was incorrect. The keyfob was shipped to me, and it wasn’t synced with my vehicle. I contacted the salesman, who said he would let the manager know. The next day, his message from the manager was “Be happy you got an excellent deal.” My advice here is to get any offer like this in writing. Don’t assume that they will honor their word, because they can just say afterward that you misunderstood. The third issue was receiving the title. I purchased the car around 4pm, and the notary had already left for the day. I was told that it would be sent overnight, and that was fine. For whatever reason, it didn’t arrive until 12 days later. Not a huge deal, but just another promise that wasn’t delivered. Maybe you’ll have a different experience if you buy a car here. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. Take the time and pay for an inspection. Get any contingencies in writing – don’t assume anything. You’ll have more information about what you’re buying, so you can know what’s wrong and what’s included. Then when any problems arise, you won’t have to just settle for “Be happy you got an excellent deal.” More

The car always come out cleaner than it went in with their complimentary car wash. Regarding Sales, the first vehicle I purchased I got a fair deal. When I attempted to purchase the second, couldn’t make the deal. I purchased elsewhere. They couldn’t make the deal and let me walk. I found this to be odd because they could have made the deal. Subaru Service is awesome!!!!!! More

I seldom take the time to express my appreciation in writing, but the present situation is rather extraordinary, and requires something more than a verbal token of appreciation. After my Subaru Forester suffered catastrophic engine-failure, I was confronted with the gloomy prospect of losing my car, or having to pay the hefty price-tag for a new engine. An expense, in all honesty, I could not afford. After calling the Subaru 1-800 number and explaining my predicament, the company did the unthinkable: they decided to help me. No, they decided to cover 75% of the repair cost. This offer left me feeling utterly flabbergasted—in the best way possible. Never in my life has a company treated me with such generosity and good-will. I cannot thank the staff at Subaru enough (Thank you, Erin!)—and this includes the corporate arbiters of my case.
