My wife had been driving a 1999 model year car given to her by her grandmother in 2006. Added to that, we became new parents of a beautiful, precious baby girl just over 5 months ago. We'd been looking to upgrade the vehicle for a while; the new arrival added some urgency to the matter. I'm the type who does a lot of research before any big purchase. In this case, reviews, book values, etc. My work lead me to the 2012 Ford Escape as being a perfect fit for our needs. Next hurdle was finding one. A new baby makes it difficult to go around test driving vehicles (infant car seat issues), so online shopping was the first choice. Several vehicles fit the bill and we were planning to check them out, when a new addition showed up from Boyd Ford. In some ways it was better than the others we'd been looking at, though the price was a bit higher. Our hope was that we could get a better deal by paying cash, and any price difference would be offset by being able to shop and deal locally. We weren't disappointed! Rob Vulgamott spent a great deal of time with me on the phone on a Friday afternoon answering questions and giving me all the information and help he could. When he became aware of the 'new baby' situation and difficulties it can present, he suggested picking up the vehicle later that evening and taking it overnight for evaluation. This worked great, as it allowed us to check the fit and attachment of the car seat, the fit of the vehicle in our garage, and gave my wife a chance for a relaxed test drive as well. So far, so good. Saturday afternoon we returned to meet with Tony Jefferson who Rob (sales manager) had pointed us to. Tony was as friendly, courteous, and helpful as Rob had been. He listened and did his utmost to answer our questions. He looked at the printouts of the other vehicles we were considering, fielded our offers, presented counter offers, and so on. The end result was beyond 'good': it was EXCELLENT on all accounts. They presented us with an extremely nice bottom line price (the kind you can't ignore) and gave us a very generous trade for our vehicle - FAR more than I ever expected. They took care of all paperwork, of course, transferred the plate *and* car seat base from our old vehicle, and as we were cash buyers - even accepted our personal check. I wonder - how many places would be willing to do that on a $20K sale with first time customers? The highest rating we can give is a 5, but we really think that experience rates a perfect 10. As well as getting the vehicle we wanted for a very nice price, we now have the opportunity for local service and repair work through Boyd Ford. Since I already own a Ford Ranger pickup, this is a double win for our expanding family. Thanks again to Rob and Tony at Boyd Ford for making this possible. Life with a new baby isn't always easy. He immediately began working on a price with trade in as well. The initial price was close enough that we could quickly and very frankly come to an agreement without all the usual games playing that has taken place with prior purchases elsewhere. We appreciated the straightforward approach, and got a deal that we are quite happy with. More
