rarely done right the first time. First oil change of Brand New 2011 Hyundai sonata decided to do synthetic oil .When got in car I noticed recommended oil change said 3000 mile for nex First oil change of Brand New 2011 Hyundai sonata decided to do synthetic oil .When got in car I noticed recommended oil change said 3000 mile for next oil change went back in and told them what sticker said and asked if synthetic was put in since that's what i was charged for. they said yes and the oil sticker automatically prints 3000 miles for next change and they have to change the default setting for longer mileage. They gave me new oil change sticker. Next oil change went home and when I got there I noticed a smell from under the hood of car took look and there was oil split all over the valve cover it was running down on the exhaust .I called up service manager and told what i found he said bring back in and they would clean up the oil. so 20 minutes home 20 minutes back to dealership . Showed the manager the oil on top of valve cover told him if i traded the car in i would get knocked for dirty engine and your the ones that got it dirty. I went to waiting room had wi fi and cookies.when manager told me car was ready i foolishly got in car and went home 20 minutes.When i got home car still smelled wrong i looked under the hood and top of engine was still dirty with oil. Called up manager again and told it had not been cleaned still oil on top of engine. he said bring back and they would take care of it. 20 minutes back to dealer.I took in to garage to manager he said he was told they used a chemical to clean the bottom of the engine and would send back to have top cleaned. when car was done me and manager popped open hood to double check was clean this time after 3rd trip to dealership and wasted afternoon. There was no free oil change or any kind of compensation for all the returned trips that wasted time and gas. Next oil change told manager i could smell raw gas but could not see any wet spots any where said they would check found nothing and changed oil left from there to WI Dells. smelled gas again and pulled over on trip and still no gas leak but i did find 2 spots on hood of car that had square chips looked just like hood was opened under a over hang hose reel perfectly centered in same positions of the hood on both sides called up services department told what i found said bring in next week and would look at. services manager said they don't have anything hanging over the car bays to have chipped the hood . brought in next week they looked and said would fix it for free even though they still said there was nothing that could of chipped the paint in shop. BODY SHOP DID EXCELLENT PAINT JOB ! . as for gas smell informed later of recall for a emissions hose that collapses when warm . That was fixed many months later after notice of recall wait on part. Now the last oil change took in for oil change new manager told her of the problems in the past and she told me her crew does a good job and assured me it would all be done right this time. During oil change the cabin filter was brought in to me to show how dirty it was and recommended changing it i declined and they said they would knock off the dirty that's in it and re install filter .when told car was ready checked the engine you could tell where a little oil was spilled. but wiped up. checked oil sticker for correct mileage on oil change that was right. thought cool finally done right. left dealer stopped at restaurant and the sun was shining on the dash you could see oil finger prints all over the glove box and dash. come to find out the cabin filter is behind the glove box. called them up and told of oil on stuff. Again they said bring it in and they would take care of it. When got there different person the person i had talked to on phone came to look at oil on glove box and dash they agreed that there was a mess and took back car himself to there garage staff to clean. When returned it was clean but lost it's new car smell since they used a orange cleaner on dash. No comp for time gas or inconvenience. now it's time for oil change again and scared to take it in since there's a trip planned in near future. going to drive 50 minutes one way to different dealer and hope for better luck. I found this site when i was trying to find any reviews about different factory dealer. The positives are great paint shop,good cookies,friendly , managers that tried to work with you. Negatives a premium price for incompetent mechanics and service staff that need more training, better supervision and maybe better pay so they care more about what there doing. LOVE THE CAR Lucky it's been reliable. Dealership services at the Bergstrom Hyundai Dealership would be the only reason i would not buy another Sonata even though i think the Sonata have all the other cars in that class beat. More
