LAST WEEK MY SON, A RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATE AND I WENT SHOPPING OR A KIA SOUL. WE WENT TO THREE DEALERS IN THE AREA, THE FIRST TWO OF WHICH QUOTED HIM AND INFLATED PRICE WITH THE TYPICAL SHOWROOM JARGON SHOPPING OR A KIA SOUL. WE WENT TO THREE DEALERS IN THE AREA, THE FIRST TWO OF WHICH QUOTED HIM AND INFLATED PRICE WITH THE TYPICAL SHOWROOM JARGON WHICH MAKES SHOPPING FOR A CAR COMPARABLE TO GOING TO THE DENTIST. THE LAST DEALER WE VISITED WAS KIA OF LANSDALE. I DON'T USUALLY WRITE THESE TYPE OF REVIEWS BUT I BELIEVE ITS IMPORTANT TO GIVE MERIT WHERE MERIT IS DO. AS WE ENTERED THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE APPROACHED BY JOE BOYER WHO POLITELY INTRODUCED HIMSELF AND PROCEEDED TO ASK MY SON ALL THE RIGHT QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT HE WANTED IN A KIA SOUL. MY SON GAVE HIM HIS BUDGET WHICH HE HAD FOR THE CAR AND JOE BELIEVED THAT HE COULD FIND HIM WHAT HE WANTED WITHIN HIS BUDGET. ONE TRIP TO BILL HARRIS AND FIVE MINUTES LATER MY SON HAD A QUOTE WITHIN HIS BUDGET IN FRONT OF HIM WHICH INCLUDED ALL THE FEATURES PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED. THE PREVIOUS DEALERS HAD EXCEEDED BY SONS BUDGET BY 20% AND TOLD HIM THAT HE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO PURCHASE THE CAR IN THAT PRICE RANGE. KIA OF LANSDALE WAS ABLE TO LISTEN TO WHAT WAS NEEDED AND QUICKLY FOUND A WAY TO MAKE IT WORK. THEY WERE POLITE, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND LISTENED TO WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTED....NO GAMES. THEY DELIVERED THE CAR IN THE DESIRED TIME FRAME AND JOHN BURNS THE BUSINESS MANAGER TOOK THE TIME TO REVIEW ALL THE PAPERWORK WITH MY SON SO THE TRANSACTION WAS FULLY UNDERSTOOD. JOE BOYER SPENT OVER TWO HOURS AND THE TIME OF DELIVERY AND METICULOUSLY WENT OVER ALL THE FEATURES OF THE CAR AND ANSWERED ALL HIS QUESTIONS. I HAVE BOUGHT A LARGE NUMBER OF CARS IN MY LIFETIME BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD THE LEVEL OF SERVICE DELIVERED THAT KIA OF LANSDALE PROVIDED. THEY MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST KIA DEALER IN THE TRISTATE AREA BUT THEY ARE ONE THAT KIA CORPORATE SHOULD USE FOR SALES TRAINING. Real short if you are looking for the best or even a competetive price on a KIA go elsewhere or at least do yourself a favor and shop around. After many visits back and forth ,wanting to do business wit competetive price on a KIA go elsewhere or at least do yourself a favor and shop around. After many visits back and forth ,wanting to do business with this dealership, they would not even come close to any of the prices that other dealers gave on a 2013 Sorento. They gave me bottom line best prices on 4 different occasions. Watch for dealer pricing vs MSRP factory pricing. A new scam that a couple of dealers in the area< particularly Gateway Kia in Quakertwon and Warrington are great at doing. Salesperson was real nice guy but sales manager who handles pricing tried to rip me off. More
BUYER BEWARE: Avoid Kia of Lansdale, especially their "Service" department. The quotes here are intentional because what they provide can't be accurately defined as service. Let me share my "Service" department. The quotes here are intentional because what they provide can't be accurately defined as service. Let me share my experience. I have a 2006 Kia Sedona that started having a problem where it periodically wouldn't start. After a little digging on the internet I find that Kia has a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out to diagnose this problem. In other words, they are fully aware that some 2006 Kia Sedona's have this problem. It's a potential problem with the Alarm relay, which is hard-wired into the fuse box under the dash. So, I set the appointment with Kia of Lansdale to have them use the TSB to diagnose the problem. They needed to keep it for a day, since it's an intermittent problem, and they need to diagnose it in the "no-start" state. As many families with young children understand, when you have an issue like this where your car is in the shop all day it causes significant inconvenience. My wife and I made the arrangement we needed to make to have our son dropped off and picked up from school and left the car at the shop About midday, the "service" manager, Scott, calls me to explain that they can't get the problem to replicate and informs me that I owe them $80. I ask him why I owe him money when he didn't do the one thing I asked him to do. He said, "my mechanic spent time trying to replicate the "no-start", and we ran our shop diagnostics." I told him that I didn't ask him to run the shop diagnostics, nor did I authorize them to be done. I told him it wasn't fair to me to charge me $80 for providing absolutely no value. To which he replied "I have to pay my mechanic". Ok, so they spent MAYBE one hour trying to get my car to not start. What mechanic makes $80 per hour? Clearly, I'm now paying for overhead and contribution to profit. Why should they make a profit off of me when they did literally nothing of value for me? If Scott has said "we spent an hour on your car, so I have to charge you something to pay the mechanic. I'll give the service to you at cost" ....and charged me $35 or so, I probably would have been fine with it. But to charge me the full rack rate? To make a PROFIT off of me and provide no value? Ridiculous and unethical! And on top of this, Kia KNOWS about the problem! There's a TSB out on it and it's a design flaw. Why wouldn't Kia want to stand behind their products? When I went to pick up my car, Scott had taken 20% off my bill to "help me out". Unless their mechanics are making $133,000 per year, this amount still means I'm contributing to overhead and profit on a transaction where Kia of Lansdale provided ZERO value. I feel like I was robbed and treated very poorly. If you have to bring your Kia into a dealership to get serviced, avoid the Lansdale shop like the plague. Apparently, they don't mind cheating people. More
We came in and spoke to a salesmanager there who was initially helpful and seemed to want our business. We told him we had a trade in that needed some work, but we wanted a new car for a good price. It was a totally different experience. The sales manager became very nasty and said our trade was worth nothing and that we could not get a deal and that we were basically not good to be his customer. It is supposed to be a family business, but after initial friendliness, the experience was very bad. This is not how one should conduct business and we thought seriously of making a complaint to the KIA corporate. We still may, do not recommend, suggest one should find better deals elsewhere. We walked into Lansdale Kia, thinking we'd buy local. No one even stood up from their desks to help us, despite the fact that we were the ONLY customers in the showroom. When we described what we wanted, the salesman let us take a drive, during which, he was neither friendly nor helpful in describing the features of the car. When we started to talk numbers he became disgusted with us since we were saying we had quotes from other dealers that were at $30K for a Sportage SX and they wanted $37K. The sales manager decided to come over and talk to us like we were idiots saying things like "this is a business and we have to make money and in turn you get a new car". We left, headed to Burlington Kia and got the car that Lansdale wanted $37K for at the final sales price of $29K. I'd suggest doing the drive and going to New Jersey to save $8K. More
