Bruce went over the service record for the vehicle with me and made sure that anything needing attention was addressed. I am very pleased with the quality of work performed. I did not experience any "surprises". I have come to expect a great level of service from Riverview. More

I went to several different dealerships when I started looking for a new car in early July 2012. Riverview was the first that I visited and they didn’t start off with a high pressure sales pitch. I told looking for a new car in early July 2012. Riverview was the first that I visited and they didn’t start off with a high pressure sales pitch. I told the salesman what I was looking for and he showed me what he had available and then told me he might be able to get what I wanted from another dealership. I wanted to look around and after visiting several other dealerships and test driving other cars I decided I wanted a Rav4 and started calling the dealerships I had visited and asking if they could get the exact one I was looking for. I called Riverview back, Chris Lopez then told me they could order what I wanted from Toyota and get EXACTLY what I was looking for. I went to the dealership on Saturday 7/21/12 and placed a $1,000 deposit and Chris told me he would place the order on Monday. I had requested a copy of the “spec build sheet” that Chris said they would get back once the order was in the system and that would be the confirmation that the vehicle was being built and what the expected delivery date would be. Over the next three weeks I called and stopped in asking for an update. I kept getting a run around, first they hadn’t heard anything, and I kept getting a promise they would call me. I managed to get Chris’s email address and emailed him several times. On 8/1 at 10:23am he told me in an email that he “should have the spec build sheet today or tomorrow according to the Toyota district rep”. I emailed him on 8/3 after not hearing from him and never received a reply. On Monday 8/6 I still hadn’t heard from him and emailed him again with no reply. On Wednesday 8/8 I stopped by the dealership at 8:30am and Chris told me he had been “out of the office” since the previous Thursday. Yet I never received and out of office reply from his email, or any kind of contact. At that time Chris told me that Toyota declined the request to build the car I wanted. I was floored! No one had ever said that this was even a possibility. The only thing I had heard was “it’s a done deal, we’ll have it here in about three weeks”. He then proceeds to tell me he can resubmit the request and he would get the car in September, at which point I asked if he would definitely get it or if it they could “deny” it again? He admitted that they could deny it. At that point I told him I wanted my deposit back and he said he would have to request the check be cut and that I could pick it up later that afternoon. When I came in later that evening we spoke to Thomas Michael and he kept trying to sell us other vehicles, and I told him no I just wanted my check. At this point he told me that he couldn’t give it to me because it needed a second signature and the only other person who could sign was not in there and would be in on Thursday. He told me he would call me on Thursday and let me know if it was ready or not. I let him know I finished work at 5pm and I left. On Thursday I called at 4:55pm and spoke to Mr. Michael and he told me that he didn’t know why I hadn’t been called because he had “delegated” to someone to call me and let me know that the second signer was out of town and would be back on Friday. On Friday I called at 4:45pm and was directed to Chris Lopez again and he told me that the owner wouldn’t sign the check until I proved that it had cleared my account with a copy of the cancelled check and that he was already gone for the day. I emailed over a copy of the check and asked what time on Saturday the owner would be there to sign the check and he said between 11 am and 3 pm. On Saturday I arrived at the dealership at 12 noon and Chris said that the owner wasn’t there yet. I requested they call him and was told “I’m not calling him!!” as if this would be the worst possible thing that could be done. So I asked if he was definitely coming in that day and Chris said “yes, I’ll call you as soon as he gets here and signs the check”. To which I replied “that’s okay, I’ll wait”. I sat down at one of the tables on the sales floor and pulled out a book. About 5 minutes later Chris comes back and says they found an alternative second signer but they wanted to be sure the check had cleared my account, I told him I’d already sent him the check copy, and his response was that wasn’t good enough because they’ve had “a lot of check fraud” and they needed to see it on my account. They wanted me to pull it up on one of their computers and I replied no need, I have my tablet and I logged in to my account and showed it to him. He then handed me a check that had two signatures on it one I didn’t recognize but the second was Thomas Michael. The person who originally told me he couldn’t give me my money because he didn’t have a second signer. I sat at the table and used a phone app to deposit the check. More
I bought a used Scion from this dealership that was supposed to be covered by their ‘special dealership’ warranty that covered any issues for the first 6 months. I also purchased an extend warranty on supposed to be covered by their ‘special dealership’ warranty that covered any issues for the first 6 months. I also purchased an extend warranty on the car. In the first 6 months, I needed new brakes, new tires, belts, the window broke, the dash was not secure, and the cutch might be going bad. All of these issues are not covered by the extend warranty or the manufacturing warranty because they are wear items, but each of the items passed the dealership ‘certification’ process as being in excellent condition. After being lied to and abused by Thomas Michael and his staff, I took it to another Toyota dealership and they said that no honest dealer would have certified the car in this condition. The only thing Thomas Michael ever offered was service on the vehicle at more expensive rates than even the other dealerships. His ‘deal’ on repairs was on average 30% higher than other Toyota locations. Either this dealership is helpless to offer assistance to their customers or they are the worse people I have ever met, either way I would STAY AWAY at all costs. No matter what deal they offer you, it will cost you in the end. In order to save $15 a month, it has now cost me over $100 a month for the past year. More
Riverview Toyota Scion will rip you off, shift the blame, and have horrible customer service. I bought a used car from them 2 months ago and they stated that it came with a 12 month 12K warranty because they and have horrible customer service. I bought a used car from them 2 months ago and they stated that it came with a 12 month 12K warranty because they provide that with all their used cars. They showed me the certified paperwork and the warranty during the sales process and since they provided this warranty with a slightly better price for the used car over Power Toyota I decided to give them a chance (wrong idea!!). The tires looked slightly worn for a car with 20K miles, but they assured me that if I had any problem with them in 12 month or 12K miles that they would “take care” of me as a valuable customer. I purchased the used car so that my wife could drive my disabled son to all his appointments and therapies. When I purchased the car they took the paperwork to ‘put it together as a package’ and I did not think that they were attempting to scam me at the time (how would I know?!), but it seems they took back the certified review documentations and the “12 month 12K warranty” paperwork. Just after the 2nd month, one tire goes bad and I go in to get it fixed. The tire develops a huge bubble due to a crack in the tire. They say that they do not deal directly with the manufacture of the tire and that I will need to go to a place like discount and they should be able to replace it under ‘warranty’. I take it to Discount Tires (very nice people) and they said that these are the cheap tires that some places put on used cars and that they come with a zero mile warranty right off the bat. The one guy seems to think this is a common scam because people go back and have to spend more money at the dealership a couple months later. I take it to a couple of other places and they tell me the same thing. In addition, they all tell me that all of the tires will need to be replaced because they are all ‘cheap’ and ‘bad’. A new set of good tires for the car with a full warranty costs around $400. At this point I am very upset, but willing to give Riverview Toyota Scion an opportunity to fix this issue. At first I was just hoping that they would give me a discount on new tires, but they were so rude to my wife that it became a principle issue. They told her that they would give her a deal on the tires for only $600 because of what happened. They refused to show us the certified paperwork or any other warranties. We fought with the lower level people for a couple of days and finally got to management. Thomas Michael was nice at first but it became clear he was just trying to shift the blame. He would not show me paperwork, but told me the tires were in ‘excellent condition’ and that they should have not failed so fast. It was a tire manufacture issue. When I told him that the manufacture would not warranty the tires because they came with 0 warranty, he said that I should just be upset at the manufacturer and not him. Finally after a couple of days, he said he would give me a ‘good deal’ on new tires to make it up to me for only $400! When my wife came to talk to them, they were rude and hid from her. At that point they stopped taking my calls and would hang up on me. I went and bought the new tires from Discount (very nice people) and know NEVER to go to Riverview Toyota Scion! I recommend that you do the same. More
