Five hour oil change Brought my car in early for an oil change and was VERY glad that I did it early. After about 40 minutes tea there, and my service rep came out to report that the techs encountered a problem. The service techs reportedly had a problem getting the drain plug out of the oil pan on my 07 Prius, and had to force it out. Instead of stopping to check the car's history or contact Broadway Toyota about the previous service to see if there was trouble then, in their forcing the plug out and trying to reseat it, they damaged the oil pan requiring that to need to be replaced. Broadway was willing to comp my next service for the inconvenience, but without having a chance to look at the problem before the damage was done, they weren't willing (understandably) to cover the cost of the full repair. It was unlikely that a 27yr master tech at their shop couldn't put in a drain plug. Beaverton luckily had the parts in stock, but their accommodation for their part in the trouble was a car wash and five hours of a nice waiting area. I'm still out over $327 for the parts and labor, plus the cost of the oil change. I was left in a situation where a repair wasn't optional but required to get back on the road. Cory was fine to work with at Beaverton, but the service techs likely made a problem on this one that could have been resolved better. He didn't find out about the trouble until the repairs were required, and Broadway's Service manager and I were told that his boss wasn't available to discuss the trouble. More
