On April 20 I had an appointment at Banks Cadillac in Concord NH to fix a recall on the back up camera on my 2020 XT5, vin #1GYKNDRS7LZ108230. I had tried to have this taken care of earlier. I live 1 Concord NH to fix a recall on the back up camera on my 2020 XT5, vin #1GYKNDRS7LZ108230. I had tried to have this taken care of earlier. I live 1 ½ hours from Concord. I had to cancel 1 appointment due to snow, then I had another appointment that was cancelled by the dealer because they had no “loaners.” Since I work mornings in the winter, the plan for that appointment was to take the car in one afternoon, get a loaner, drive home and pick my car up the following day. The appointment on April 20th was for me to drop the car off at 7:30 a.m. and get it by 5 p.m. I called a few days before the appointment, and Stacy in Service was nice enough to put a loaner aside for me. I dropped the car, and got into my loaner. As I drove out I realized that there was a perfume smell in the car. Often scents will trigger migraines for me. I drove with all the windows open about 25 minutes to a friend’s house and left all the windows open on the car. When I returned to Banks to pick up my car, I asked to see a service manager to tell him about the smell and suggest that they do another method of cleaning loaners. I was brought into the office of Eric Linn, Service Director. He didn’t stand, or introduce himself or ask me to have a seat. He just looked at me. I introduced myself, and started by thanking him for having made a loaner available to me. I then told him of the odor and that it had triggered a migraine headache. His response, “we’ve never had a complaint before.” I said that my 2 friends had also smelled the odor. He then went into a several minute explanation that the dealership did not have to provide loaners, that it cost them money, that unless the repair met certain criteria they did not get reimbursed by GM…At that point I said, “I love to stay and chat more but I have a migraine..” (and a 1 ½ hour drive). I’m not sure why Mr. Linn felt it necessary to go into a long explanation about loaners, except possibly to make me feel very lucky that they had let me have a loaner. All I was looking for was, “sorry, I will look into it…” This is my 3rd Cadillac, they have all been used CPO vehicles. I have had work done on them (mostly by Long Cadillac in Southborough, MA). I have had loaners in the past and always understood that part of warranty work was to have a loaner available if need be. I was always treated with respect and decency. Now that I am not in MA anymore I am looking for a new Cadillac dealer closer to me. I guess I may need to keep looking… Everyone else was nice and the work was completed More
