In my opinion, he's either he's not much of a go getter, or the dealership is lacking in integrity. Could be both... The car we we're going back and forth on was a 2020 330i with 6.5k miles on it. Not fu or the dealership is lacking in integrity. Could be both... The car we we're going back and forth on was a 2020 330i with 6.5k miles on it. Not fully loaded, but very close. KBB had private party value at $34.2k (average). They had it listed on their site for $31,788. I knew this was probably before all the fun extras dealerships like to add onto the sale sheet, but I told them I was willing to pay $36k otd, however they needed to adjust it on the sheet. He told me the car was worth $40k the first time I talked to him, then $43k the next time I talked to him, then finally he calls me and says ok we can do $36k but my manager wants it gone asap. It was the same game nearly every car salesman plays- obnoxious, but they agreed to my otd, so we got the ball rolling. After I get all the inspections and photos/videos, I'm ready to put a deposit down. He starts dragging his feet and puts it off until the next day. The next day he tells me that the someone already put a deposit down on the vehicle. I asked if it was before or after I was attempting to do so. He said AFTER. Brilliant right? I said some not so nice things, he apologized and blamed it on his manager for not allowing me to give them the deposit. I get the feeling they had someone else interested at a higher price, told them if they came in and put the deposit down then it would be theirs and I lost out so they could make a few more bucks despite being ready to give them my money the night before.
