My 2005 BMW overheated and bit the dust, so I was in the market for a new BMW. I live in Phoenix, but was staying in Mountain View to help out a friend. I had a good experience with a salesman, but when i market for a new BMW. I live in Phoenix, but was staying in Mountain View to help out a friend. I had a good experience with a salesman, but when it came to giving me a price quote the dealership refused to sell me a car as I was out of state. And if they had, I would have had to pay CA tax instead of AZ tax. So I flew back to Phoenix to buy a new car and drove back to Mountain View. Unfortunately the new car was too big for my garage and got a minor scrape. When I arrived back in MV, I took it by the maintenance at the same dealer. They apparently don't do minor scrape repairs. And surprisingly the touch up paint is unavailable even though this is a 2020, and they are selling 2021s. I suppose the paint availability is really a BMW USA issue. More

3 months+ to receive refund on a $4,500 extended warranty I can't believe that this place carries the name brand of one of the most prestigious brands of Germany (my home country)... I purchased an Extende I can't believe that this place carries the name brand of one of the most prestigious brands of Germany (my home country)... I purchased an Extended Warranty for a 2017 BMW 440i xDrive Gran Coupe through the dealership's finance department. BMW of Mountain View did an excellent job selling me this warranty for ~$4,500 but my experience after that has been unacceptable. I purchased the warranty in early November 2019 but canceled it shortly after (policy allows for full refund if canceled within 60 days). But to this day, I have not received the refund. After many attempts of contacting the dealership and the finance manager that handled this case, I was promised to receive the refund within two weeks on Dec. 28. Today is Jan. 19 and I am still waiting for my money. This experience is unacceptable and confirms my previous issues with BMW of Mountain View. They're great at selling you something (though I can't say that their sales people know much about the products) but if there are any issues, they'll leave you hanging. Customer service = 0. More

I sent my car in on a recall (rear camera related) on 1/7/2020, got a loaner car, then went picking up my car the next day. Things seemed normally fine. Then something weird happened. First they couldn't find my car in the building, then I found it parked in customer parking. After I drove my car out for less than one mile, I noticed the odometer showed 24828, but the service report said the Mileage out is 24709 (Mileage in 24707). Someone drove my car for ~120 miles overnight. I called the dealer right away. They acknowledged that when I sent my car in, the tank is almost full (9 gal out of 10 gal tank), and when I got car back, only half tank left. They said they are reviewing their surveillance and sort of confirm and apologized for what happened. I asked for explanation on what happened and how this happened. This is a security issue. Someone drove my car out for 120 miles. They had no idea who took my car, where did my car go, and what has been done to my car... How could we trust them and give our precious BMW to their hands again ? Be Careful. Check the report's mileage out against your odometer when you pick up your car after service. If similar thing happened to you, please stand out to let others know. We pay premium to buy the car and service from dealer but BMW betrays our trust as they don't honor our ownership. I will update later if I hear back from BMW of Mountain View on their finding and their plan to fix this issue. I learn a lesson. You should too. More

BMW “Certified” Used Car—Don't Trust! I tried to buy a used Mazda 3 from BMW of Mountain View close to Christmas. This review pertains primarily to the service department of this dealership. I have never tried to buy a used car the past. Not mechanically inclined, I’m wary of false promises. Though some things may have changed for the better, no matter how much things change, some things remain the same. I was naïve to trust the dealership’s claim that the car had undergone a 121-point inspection/certification and didn’t carefully check the car for all of the most basic operations assuming that it would have been done. Upon driving home after dark, I wasn’t able to turn on the fan nor defrost the rear window, no matter how much I fiddled with the controls. I thought maybe it was me due to sophisticated newer controls, so I kept trying for a ½-hour to no avail. I pulled off the road (it turned out to be a dark area) to clear up the rear window with my sleeve and call BMW. The Service Department apparently was already closed, and I frantically called (5 times) to reach Sales (one time the operator hung up on me). The first Sales Manager I talked to said that it was probably a blown fuse and they would fix it if I brought it back in. (Really!? I suppose it isn’t entirely far-fetched that a fuse could have blown between the time they carefully inspected the car and put it on the lot.) Having spent hours at the dealership waiting to consummate the transaction, my cell phone battery was down to 10% on the drive home, then died while I was on the phone (and didn’t have a charger cord on me). I used the Bluetooth connection in the car, and it appears that when the phone died, this somehow disrupted the electrical system because the push button ignition failed to work for a good minute-and-a-half (tried 5 times). Needless to say, my stress level shot up at this point, and I felt that my safety was going to be in risk! The other electronic key fob that we had received (that my wife took) failed within a day. (Apparently, BMW didn’t test the batteries nor bother to spend $5 for a pair of fresh batteries.) Had I been unlucky to use that key instead, I could have been stranded! I wouldn’t be surprised if the one I used was equally weak, assuming they were the same age. The car eventually started (weirdly right after I pressed the heater control knob), and I finally made it home. In front of my garage door, I noticed that the exterior turn signal wasn’t flashing against my garage door even though it was flashing inside the car. I went outside, checked, and discovered that the signal wasn’t working both in front and back! I was changing lanes thinking I was signaling to other drivers when the car actually wasn’t! Needless to say, by now, it felt to me as if the dealership had fraudulently misrepresented the condition of the car, and I decided to cancel the sale ASAP. (The car already had bad scratch marks on the bumper after the Service Department should have previously repaired but rushed the car out to the lot, causing a previous sale to fall through.) Unless significant changes are made, don’t trust this dealership’s servicing department (under AutoNation)! This review and rating pertains to them, not Sales/Finance. To be fair, the Sales Department overall was cordial, and the manager responsible for used car sales didn’t try to sugarcoat the Service Department’s failure. One of the Sales Managers did authorize filling up our gas tank for our troubles as a courtesy (but we had already filled up our tank the night before, so it was just a couple of gallons). They weren’t willing to anything else to compensate us for wasting nearly a day-and-a-half time dealing with them when we were super busy preparing for Christmas. More

My son and I drove from Santa Rosa to Mountain View today to look at a 2007 BMW 335i that they have on their lot. The salesman was friendly and the car looked good on the surface but that's where the "good" to look at a 2007 BMW 335i that they have on their lot. The salesman was friendly and the car looked good on the surface but that's where the "good" stopped. We were there for almost four hours to buy the car they called a great car. At about the two hour mark they had me sign the "As Is" no warranty form. Then about 10 minutes before we were brought into the Finance Manager (after being there for about 3 1/2 hours at this point) the salesman came over and asked me to sign the last page acknowledging that I had read the Inspection report on the car. I started to read the report and the salesman said I didn't need to sign the other pages and he tried to stop me from reading the report. I told him that I was going to read it and it's a good thing that I did. The car's valve gasket was leaking oil down onto the oil pan and the report said it needed to be repaired and then said that the buyer had been advised. The report also showed that the rear brakes were at 3mm and 4mm and that they needed to be replaced and that the buyer had been advised. I told the salesman that I wasn't going to sign this until we talked about it and he said the Finance Manager would talk to me about it. We looked these repairs up online and found that the valve gasket replacement cost around $1500 and the rear brakes would cost around $600 to $800 replace. When we met with the Finance Manager I brought this up and he said that I was correct about the cost of the repairs. He asked us to give him a couple minutes so he could go see if he could do anything for us. About five minutes later he came back in and said that the car was being sold "As Is" and that there was nothing he could do. I told him they should have shown the inspection report to us at the beginning so we wouldn't have waisted almost 4 hours and that we were not going to buy a car for almost $8600 only the have to spend between $2000 and $2500 to fix it as soon as we drove it off the lot. DON'T go to BMW of Mountain View to buy a used car. They present themselves as being honest and so above board since they are BMW and part of the Auto Nation network. These guys are completely DISHONEST and tried to pull a fast one on us to get us to buy a car that they knew needed a lot of expensive work to make it safe for a 17 year old to drive. More
