Almost immediately my new car had fairly regular but minor electronic issues. Minor things like the volume button not working for a trip or indiscriminately dropping my phone. I pointed these out during my initial service visit and they dismissed them simply as bugs that are expected in the first year of a new build. However, over time the issues grew and are now very much a daily experience. It starts with many of the common issues found on BMW message boards, but expanded well beyond. Now my car cannot locate itself on a map, I regularly have ghost alerts for lane and object warnings, buttons on the steering wheel no longer function, the car fails to read speed limit signs as it once did and now simply flashes "LIMIT", if the key fob sits idle anywhere near the car it will lock and unlock on a continuous cycle yet if I walk up to the car it no longer unlocks unprompted, and the lift gate no longer operates with the foot gestures. When I called for a service appointment I was told their appointments are just for drop off windows and I would need to arrange transportation afterwards because they don't offer loaners. They stated I could arrange a rental car through Enterprise as an alternative. I'm old enough to remember you could just make an appointment and they would diagnose and tell you what to expect, apparently this dealer only works on the "leave it with us and we'll get to it" theory. A common theme in other reviews indicates some people have gone days without resolution or even an update, so no I'm not all that excited to just drop it off and leave. Maybe I was mistaken that BMW was a premium brand or maybe my expectations aren't aligned with their own. Issues happen no matter how expensive the car, lemons exist in all brands. However, you'd expect a bit more help than just drop it and see if you can get a rental car. More
