“One and Only!” First time BMW owner! “One and Only” is more than just a program that MotorWorks BMW of Barrington offers. It should also be used to describe how they treat all their customers, whether they are brand new to BMW like my family or previous customers! Buying a car can be stressful, scary and worrisome. Most times you have to deal with aggressive salespeople who live off of commissions, and then hope that you have haggled/gotten the best price. From the moment we walked into MotorWorks BMW of Barrington, you could tell this was a different dealership. We were kindly greeted right away, and asked if we needed assistance. We informed them that we were looking to test drive a few cars that we had seen on their website. We were then teamed up with Leo Khodos – our BMW Client Advisor. He shared with us that he would become our single point person who we would deal with all aspects of buying a car. He first wanted to make sure we were comfortable and informed us of the free Starbucks (this won our 12 year old daughter over) the dealership provides to their customers. He patiently listened to our wants and requirements, as well as explained and answered all of our initial questions. We had mentioned that the night before we had seen their “One and Only” ad on their website. As he explained the program to us, he jumped onto his computer and pulled up the ad from the website. He informed us that these were not actors, and pointed out some of the people and their positions in the company. He apologized for being relatively new to the job, but if he had not disclosed this information up front, you would have never guessed it! We can’t say enough about Leo! As we spent the next three hours with Leo test driving a few cars, it was finally time to sit down and start to make “the” decision. Even though Leo was the so-called “new kid on the block” as we began the decision making, we had the pleasure of being introduced to the Michael Gargano – BMW Sales Manager. He came by to introduce himself as well as check on us as we worked with Leo to make sure that any questions we had would be answered. We went through the financing options, buy or lease? New or certified pre owned? They were both patient and were certainly not aggressive with any sales pitch! They really took their time to listen to all of our questions and concerns. The upfront disclosure of the costs and process of buying from them was very transparent! Their philosophy is that the customer can gather all of this information off of the internet, so there is no reason to hide anything. The program called “One and Only,” reminded us of the old Saturn concept, one sticker price for the car (no need to haggle) and one contact person you deal with at the dealership. This program is rare in the car sales world, and for the timid car buyer, it makes the process simple and painless. As we narrowed down and made the final choice on our new BMW X2 28i the “One and Only” program mentioned that the process would be completed in approximately an hour and they were not kidding! All the forms were electronic and you can even see the timer running on the screen if you want! During this time both Ryan Durso – BMW Business Director and Christopher Lima - BMW General Manager came by and both introduced themselves to us and made sure we were comfortable and were very friendly. The atmosphere is certainly that of a family business and everyone is treated the same from the customers, to the Client Advisors, and the managers. Once the vehicle was ready, we were then introduced to Thomas Munyer – BMW Car Genius. He patiently walked us through the ins and outs of our new vehicle! We keep coming back because everything about the experience is as luxurious as their vehicles. They get to know their customers and it shows. Robert and the entire team, (Chris Lima, Mike Gargano and Victor Najjar in service), spend the time making sure you feel good about this investment. We were between two different versions of the same car. One was in the showroom and another on the lot. They went out of their way to park both cars next to each other to help us compare and make a decision. This was very helpful and not something they had to do but they went above and beyond to help us. I also like the streamlined sales process where we did the whole transaction at Robert’s desk and didn’t have to wander around the dealership talking to different departments. Much more enjoyable and efficient experience. More
Follow through is everything I was recently in to have a damaged tire inspected as I was nervous that it would start to fail.. The team identified that the tire did need to be replaced, but noted that they needed to order a new one and the tire should be fine to drive on. Unfortunately the next day the tire started to rapidly lose pressure and I ended up having to pay to have it towed to the dealership for repair. Marc Collura handled the call with the roadside assistance team with me (stayed on the call the entire time) and investigated the service call to see if the tire should have been driven on or if some other action should have been taken by his team. He ended up comping me the tire as he did not feel the team should have released me with the tire damage that was present. His dedication to ensuring I was taken care of when the flat happened, and follow through to ensure his team was providing the best service is exceptional. Additionally, I would be remiss to not mention that Christopher Lima reached out to me the next day to continue to discuss the issue. Mistakes happen, its life.. but the follow up and insistence to go above and beyond any of my expectations was greatly appreciated and really sets the team apart from the competition. Service Persistence I had an annoying squeak/chirp coming from under the frame of my 2017 X5 when I would come across a bumpy stretch of road, I want to thank the Motor I had an annoying squeak/chirp coming from under the frame of my 2017 X5 when I would come across a bumpy stretch of road, I want to thank the Motor Werks techs and especially Erik Swanson for finding and correcting this. It took two tries but they did not give up, they knew it was a big deal to me. Erik is just a good guy, very likable and he cares a lot about keeping his customers informed of progress. Victor also went above and beyond to make sure the car I was interested in was available to test drive. He realized I had done my homework on which model I was interested in and didnt waste my time going over superfluous information.
