We weren't sure what we wanted and shopped at more than 10 different dealerships. When we arrived at BMW of Ann Arbor, Alex Upshur greeted us. After about 30 minutes, and before even test driving a car, I realized that we would most likely be buying a car through Alex. As I told him that day, he was the first car salesmen we had met that really knew the products he was selling. Alex was able to answer every technical question we had. He was enthusiastic, obviously a true fan of BMW. But most importantly, Alex was calm, polite, and low pressure - a pleasure to work with. Once we test drove a car...well, that was it - we were hooked. It has now been two months since purchasing a 2011 BMW 328i xdrive, and my wife still loves it. We have also had excellent experiences with the service department. Dusty Harrison and the rest of the service staff that I have met so far have impressed me with their knowledge and professionalism. Outstanding Experience, Superior Value I waited three months before writing this review to be sure that the outstanding sales care, professionalism and followup service of Alex Upshur was n I waited three months before writing this review to be sure that the outstanding sales care, professionalism and followup service of Alex Upshur was not just a flash in the pan. I initially met Alex by chance looking through the Ann Arbor BMW car lot for a high quality, good value car to replace my wife's 12 year old Volvo. As luck would have it, Alex came out to help. He was unassumingly present, knowledgeable and kind. There was not a moment of 'car salesman' in the experience. He was patient with questions and reassuring with answers. Within the week we purchased a wonderful 328i that my wife loves. I was so pleased with Alex's professionalism and kindness, I went to see him to look at the possibility of replacing my 10 year old Passat some time in the future. He guided me through a no-pressure tour of vehicle possibilities and options we both thought might suit my specific needs. When I told him I wasn't ready he just smiled and said he'd be there when I was. Only days later, the engine in my Passat gave out while driving at highway speeds, leaving me stranded roadside on a Friday afternoon of a long weekend. As I waited hours for a tow truck to arrive, I called Alex and told him my predicament. He said he just received a fully loaded, beautiful X3 that he felt would be perfect for me and would hold it until I could get there the following morning. I have now purchased two wonderful vehicles from Alex and my wife and I are thrilled with both our cars and most particularly the followup service and patient attention that Alex never seems to run short of. Although its not likely we will buy another car for quite a while, Alex's kindness, willingness to help every step of the way and professional demenor is one of the key reasons we are so happy with our purchases and look forward to continuing our relationship. Eric understands performance-oriented enthusiasts and why they gravitate to BMWs. I am continuing to refine what car I will acquire, which currently appears to most likely be a BMW. I have purchased BMWs from various dealerships in the region before and was always quite happy with sales and service. Justin worked with me on closing the deal and was knowledgeable, courteous and responsive. Other dealerships I was working with at the same time were not quite as cooperative as BMW of Ann Arbor. Excellent! Brendan Byrne - the business manager - was also a pleasure to work with when we picked up the car. Great experience. Follow up AFTER the purchase is not something you see often. That made a big difference also rating BMW of Ann Arbor five stars! More
