Beware of Service Department not diagnosing properly to save I purchased a 08 Lucerne with 28,000 miles and a $2700 6/60,000 mile extended warranty in 11/2014. Twice I had my car into the service department with I purchased a 08 Lucerne with 28,000 miles and a $2700 6/60,000 mile extended warranty in 11/2014. Twice I had my car into the service department with complaints that my car felt like the transmission was slipping. After service looked at it both times, they said they could find nothing wrong with the transmission, unfortunately since I am not a mechanic and made the wrong complaint, it wasn't investigated and diagnoses by their ASE certified mechanics. Now, it's out of warranty, no return call from the service manager and I am stuck paying for it and labor out of pocket. Never will I deal with this dealership again. Good Luck people! I I'd get a phone call from Rusty, the service manager. He said that because I could not accurately describe the banging into gear I felt when stopped and accelerating as a broken motor mount, the mechanics would not have known to look for that. I am sorry that I did not have the experience mechanically or personally to know what a broken motor mount felt like as it lifted the motor 4" on acceleration and it did effect the cars ability to move forward momentarily until the motor fell back into place. The transmission shop I took it to knew immediately what the issue was and fixed it for me. I had to pay out of pocket and hope that if you are having major issues, you first go to someone who can properly diagnose a bang and a slip so your well paid-for warranty can be ustilized and not continually go in with the same complaint and they send you away cause their mechanics don't know how to spot broken mounts or deduct taking off from a stop, hearing a banging noise and losing power (slip) as a broken mount. Rusty, of course defended his crew. Btw, no codes are displayed with a broken motor mount...another clue they had no clue! More
