Within days, she noticed that the power steering was getting stiff. In two months, we had to refill the power steering fluid twice. We took the car to a Honda dealer, who informed us that: 1) The rack and pinion, at the very least, was shot. 2) This damage was definitely more than two months old. 3) There were indications that Autonation Toyota cleaned evidence of the leak off the steering system. In conversations with Duncan, he told us that they could "definitely" help us out with repair, and his sales manager would get back to us. That was three months and several phone calls ago. It is obvious that they don't want to do anything about the lemon that they sold us, and want to stick us with the $2,000 repair. DO NOT BUY from Autonation Toyota, and DO NOT trust Duncan with your car purchase. More

Bait and Switch: The action of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain with the intention of substituting inferior OR more expensive goods. I typically don’t write reviews because I am not that person to take offense to poor customer service. However I do not believe a company should get off the hook without others beings fully of aware what they are getting if a business is going to waste customer’s valuable time. On 7/13/18 I walked into Toyota Tempe at 7970 Autoplex Loop. I was met by a sales representative that let me test drive a 2018 Rav4. After we completed the test drive I was curious on what the total out the door price would be. She was able to present an offer for me and when I said that was higher than I wished to spend she offered their “best deal.” I told her I would like to think about it and at that time she said “hold on let me get my finance manager and see if there is anything else he can do.” I hung around for the sales manager and he asked what it would take for me to want to purchase the vehicle. I told him what I was looking to spend and he printed up an offer that matched what I was willing to spend and said “let’s do it,” and wanted me to purchase right then and there. I thanked both of them for their time and took offer in hand (first written offer) and told them I wanted a little bit of time to think about it and wasn’t ready to pull the trigger right away but would be in touch. Over the next few days I called the sales representative that had shown me the car and discussed different trims and features and she mentioned that they would honor the same monetary discounts as on the original offer “best offer” for updated models/trims/etc. I spoke to her at least twice a day over the next week asking all sorts of questions. On 7/18/18 I got an email from the sales representative stating “Thank you for stopping into the dealership last week, and test driving the 2018 Toyota Rav4. I hope you truly enjoy the vehicle. When you are ready to make your purchase, give me a call,” with the same offer as on 7/13/18 attached in the email. (2nd written offer) At this point I had thought it over was comfortable with the price and was ready to accept their offer. I called up the sales representative on 7/20/18 and confirmed the offer price again. I told her I was on my way to the bank to get the money for the agreed upon price that they had given to me in writing on 7/13/18 & 7/18/18 and had agreed to 7/20/18 on the phone. I went to the bank withdrew the money and as I am on the way to the dealership I get a call from the sales representative I had been dealing with and she asked if I could speak to another one of her managers who up until this point I had not spoken with. He mentioned that the first manager had made a “mistake” and that it would be an additional $2500 to what they had offered me twice in writing and multiple times over the phone including 10 minutes before he called. Taken aback by this sudden increase I asked to speak with the original manager who had handed me the original “best” offer and to better understand what had happened. This manager had suddenly gotten really busy and was unable to speak with me. When inquiring from the sales representative when I could expect a call from the original manager she responded via text message “He said it was a mistake and that he is sorry and I am going to e-mail you the best that we can do.” She then proceeded to email me two more offers (5 different offers total now). The next day the original manager finally called me at 8am with an unprofessional defensive attitude and implied it was it ridiculous that I would expect a price that low. Which I found quite funny because if it was ridiculous wouldn’t he have noticed it when he handed it to me. I could hardly get a word in and the best explanation I got was “I am entitled to a mistake and if you don’t like the new price go somewhere else.” As a first time car buyer from a dealership these are the types of stories that have kept me away from dealing with the stereotypical, slick, slimy (Harry Wormwood) type of car’s salesman. I understand mistakes can be made yes we’re all human. However I had this price given to me twice in writing with 5 days in-between to catch the mistake and multiple times verbally. Understandably the sales representative may be new and not up to speed on all of the financing options however the finance manager was the one who set it up and printed it out and physically handed me the original “best” offer. Unless incompetent he knows exactly what the bottom line is that his company can afford to make a deal. I find it awfully hard to believe and deceptive that as soon as was en route with money in hand they had an unknown third person (aka the closer) call me and deliver the news that the offer I had been discussing for 7 days all of a sudden was a $2500 swing. How this mistake was not found in the 20+ times we discussed the price or even on the two written offers?? How did the original finance manager who physically wrote up the offer, printed, and handed it to me not notice it? I thought my experience was very smooth and friendly up until they decided to pull the ole switcharoo on me. I would not waste your valuable time or hard earned money with this dealership and the quality of staff they employ. You would be better served taking your business elsewhere to a dealership that will honor their word and written offers. I have attached all 5 of their offers that they sent me so that you are aware of what kind of games they will yo-yo you around with to waste your time and make a sale. None of these variations on offers were contingent on financing as I was going to pay cash. You will see the best offer I got was both printed out for me and emailed supporting my claim of them giving it to me twice. In the end I should have just referred to their rating on the better business bureau of D- and spent my time shopping elsewhere. More
Stranded snowbird Purchased a new 2018 Camry Hybrid December 4, 2017 from Autonation Toyota in Tempe AZ. Salesman (Dale Ballard) and the sales manager (Jason James) were both excellent to work with. The problems began with the financial manager (Jordan Hawkins). During the processing of the paper work he continously pushed an extended warranty, dropping the price along the way. He finally said that due to the complexity of the hybrid system and numerous computers it would probably be beneficial over the long term and I finally agreed to a 7 year/70k mile warranty. Imagine my surprise when later reading through factory warranty that the hybrid system was coverd by Toyota for 8 years/80k miles. I left the dealership with temporary tags good through March 4, 2018. I am a snowbird from SD and asked all parties involved when purchasing the vehicle if processing the title and registration paperwork would be an issue. Was told there would be no problems but it might take a little longer. I checked in with the dealership after 8 weeks to see how things were processing. Was informed that they don't do that paperwork and that it was my responsibility. I requested to speak with the facility manager (Neil U.) After 10 days and numerous voice mails I received a call from Charles B. who works for the facility manager. He reiterated that they were not able to do the paperwork and I needed to contact the state of AZ and request a title. Being slightly put off by this I called two other dealerships in the Phoenix area (another Autonation dealer and an independent) to ask if I purchased a vehicle from them would they be able to process the out of state paperwork. Both said there would be no problems. I then contacted Toyota Financial Services (TFS) to see if they could help. They advised me that every Toyota dealer nationwide was capable of registering a vehicle out of state. The lady at TFS said she would take care of the title work and send a copy to SD for registering the car. Unfortunately for me the 90 temporary tags expired on March 4th and I have been unable to drive my new car since (the past 7 1/2 weeks and counting). SD has received the title and paperwork so hopefully in the next week or two I can migrate north for the summer. I also delt with the parts department at this dealership. The day I purchased the car I ordered a trunk mat and bumper cover. They said it would take about a week to come in. After 3 weeks I called and was told "they just arrived this morning ". When I came in to pick them up I asked the parts guy again and he said the same thing. I asked to see the shipping invoice and if he wanted to stay with that story. He recanted stating that someone must have forgotten to notify me. With my experiences at this dealership up to this point I see no reason to ever come back for anything. Nor would I recommend them to anyone seeking to purchase a vehicle or parts. I have not had any experience with the service department, but I can see no reason to take a chance that they may be any better. More

Messed Up My Purchase Paperwork! So I went to Autonation Toyota Tempe when it came time to explore options for my car at the time of my lease expiring. The sales girl was helpful (La So I went to Autonation Toyota Tempe when it came time to explore options for my car at the time of my lease expiring. The sales girl was helpful (Latifah) and after exploring some options I ended up deciding to just purchase my vehicle I had been leasing. Everything was fine. I made my first payment to the lender I ended up getting set up with, etc, but when I checked on my lease account online it was still showing that I owed payments a few weeks later. I went ahead and made it thinking they had probably just not received my purchase info yet. A few weeks later I checked again to be sure it was shown as zero balance on the lease but it still said I owed another payment. I called Toyota Lease Services and they said they had not received any paperwork showing I had purchased the vehicle! They said I'd have to contact the dealer where I bought it and have them send the paperwork. I've now called Autonation Toyota Tempe close to ten times over the past couple weeks. I've either left a voice message for the finance guy I used (Jordan Hawkins) or was told he was unavailable. I tried another finance manager, as well, left a voicemail, and no response there, either. I contacted the sales girl to get him to contact me back (she's at least been responsive) and still nothing. Very unprofessional and lax response to not even take the time to give me a call back and attempt to resolve this issue, which was THEIR FAULT in the first place for not sending Toyota Lease my paperwork! I will never buy another car from there again and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to ever buy a car from there if this is how they treat their customers who chose to do business with them! Avoid this dealer at all costs Traded in a vehicle with a loan on it for a new Tacoma on March 3, 2017, here I sit at the end of April with two vehicle payments because this dealer Traded in a vehicle with a loan on it for a new Tacoma on March 3, 2017, here I sit at the end of April with two vehicle payments because this dealer has failed to pay off my trade like they agreed to do in my written contract, every time I call I get the same lady named Veronica at the reception desk that hangs up or disconnects my call immediately. If you ever need any answers no one can tell the truth every single person tells a different story, 51 days and still not paid off is a little crazy, AZ has a 21 day pay off window not sure what my next step is but I think it may be legal action.
