We had a very frustrating experience with AutoNation Toyota Tempe. We completed an online appraisal and received a certified offer of $27,000 for our vehicle. Before committing to a 4-hour round trip, we spoke directly with Lisa Mora to confirm everything. She assured us the offer would stand as long as the vehicle condition matched what we submitted, which it did, and even said we’d likely have more leverage in person. After arriving, the offer was suddenly reduced by $6,000. We were told the original price was set by “corporate,” yet the store then ran their own KBB-style search and based the new number on that instead. This had nothing to do with the condition of the vehicle. It was accurately represented from the start. This felt like a clear bait and switch. It also felt like they will say whatever is needed to get you in the door, even if it doesn’t match how the process actually works. The policies are not transparent, and the “certified” offer was not honored. We wasted an entire Sunday and a full tank of diesel on a process that was misleading from the start. If the online certificate is not reliable, that needs to be made clear upfront so customers can make informed decisions. I would not recommend making a long trip based on their online appraisal. More
