We purchased a certified 2008 Toyota Solara Convertible via the internet. Carl was very pleasent to work with, the price was very reasonable and the car was just as described on the internet. my sons Scion had the service engine light on. Jeff in service told my wife 125.00 to put on diagnostics machine, even with extended gold service contract paid for when car was purchased from same dealer. service told my wife 125.00 to put on diagnostics machine, even with extended gold service contract paid for when car was purchased from same dealer. They found a mass air flow sensor unplugged and a hose off,the car also needed injector cleaner.They told my wife that the filters must be changed also,vital to the cars running smoothly. When I looked at the invoice when they came home she was charged 105.70 for replacing a 1.5 month old air cleaner and a cabin filter. We all know a cabin filter has nothing what so ever to do with a cars running. The air cleaner was changed about a month and a half ago. There was nothing wrong with it at all. Total bill was 270.16 For reconnecting a hose,a wire,injector cleaner and changing 2 filters. Auto zone sells same items for less than 45.00 total in the best quality they carry. I will never, ever buy a car from this dealer again nor have anything serviced by them. I would suggest you take the vehicle anywhere but here for service. More
This is an update to a previous review. I take back everything I said. The car they sold me was involved in a front collision, per their provided CARFAX report. I was assured by Carl and the dealer everything I said. The car they sold me was involved in a front collision, per their provided CARFAX report. I was assured by Carl and the dealership that everything had been fixed. The car was Toyota Certified so I felt comfortable purchasing the car out of state. Three weeks after I brought the car home, the front bumper started to detach itself from the front of the car. The paint also started to peel off and pill near the front right headlight. I brought it to a nearby Autonation dealer and they said the repair work was shoddy. Instead of repairing the fender, the liberally sprayed bondo all over it, shaved down one of the clips to force the bumper into place, and put a wood screw into the front of the bumper. They painted over it all so it didn't look suspicious. Desert Toyota would not cover the cost of repairing the bumper, indicating I'd need to drive the car back to Las Vegas (400+ miles one way) for them to fix it "free of charge." Mind you, it was also at least a 3 day fix to PAINT the bumper (much less fix the fender) and this car was supposed to be "certified." Desert only agreed to split whatever repair costs I decided to pursue. I decided to only paint the bumper, since it was peeling off since whoever did it previously didn't prepare it it correctly for the paint to adhere. This cost me $250 (my portion of the split cost). The fender repair would have cost me $600 extra (that's my portion split cost). It's not worth putting in $850 into a bumper, quite honestly. I have a new bumper but there's huge gaps between the fender and bumper because of poor worksmanship at Desert. I would not trust Desert Toyota again and this "certified" used car stuff from Toyota is an empty guarantee. More

Perhaps the most unique aspect of my purchase experience was the she did not involve herself in the gamesmanship associated with "closing the deal" that I have experienced in the past. She left the of making that decision to me without a hint of pressure. And I have appreciated her resisting that temptation very much. With regard to "Quality of Work" and "Price" ratings shown above. First, I was purchasing a new car so no work was done on it other than the usual make ready which I found to be more than acceptable. But, if the question was directed at the work done by Mary for me, my answer could be nothing less than excellent. Secondly, with regard to "Price" I find the question a little more difficult to respond to. I have never paid MSRP for a vehicle in my life until this one. But I accepted the quote given me by Mary as being more than reasonable. Primarily because of reading and hearing about many dealers who were inflating the price because of public response to the car. She and the dealership honored the quote given me and that says a great number of very positive things about them both. I enjoyed working with Mary and my "Overall Experience" leaves me looking forward to future contacts. More
