Let me describe the multiple HORRORS I experienced buying from AutoNation. I purchased a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma from AutoNation on May 8, 2024. I paid CASH, NO financing. I picked my new Tacoma up fro from AutoNation. I purchased a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma from AutoNation on May 8, 2024. I paid CASH, NO financing. I picked my new Tacoma up from AutoNation on May 15, 2024. When they gave me the Tacoma keys, I asked where I could find the owners’ manuals and dashcam manual. My sales person said they were unable to locate the owners’ manuals, but assured me she would FedEx them to me the next day. The same day I drove my Tacoma home, AutoNation’s assistant sales manager threatened to REPOSSESS my new Tacoma even though I had a bill of sale indicating “paid in full.” After driving home from AutoNation on May 15, 2024, I received multiple phone texts from an unknown person demanding I send them a photo of my wife’s drivers’ license. At first, I ignored the texts from a phone number I didn’t recognize. After receiving several more demanding texts, I called the text’s number and was connected to a person claiming to be one of AutoNation’s sales managers. He was angry with me for not having responded to his previous texts. He became even more angry when I requested he provide proof he was an AutoNation employee. That’s when he threatened to REPOSSESS my new Tacoma. I hung up on him. It turned out that earlier that day the AutoNation finance person had made a photocopy of my wife’s drivers’ license. Unexplained to me, the photocopy was misplaced. Apparently, the assistant sales manager was tasked with getting a replacement copy of my wife’s driver’s license. An hour later, I received verification and texted the picture he requested. I blame AutoNation for causing me to incur late fees from DMV because AutoNation failed to send me the Electronic Dealers Report of Sale (EDRS) NECESSARY for me to register my new Tacoma with DMV. Nevada law requires dealers to provide the EDRS to buyers within 10-days of the vehicle purchase which occurred on May 8, 2024. Yet, after 30-days, I had still not received my EDRS from AutoNation. For the next three weeks, I repeatedly called and emailed AutoNation, including its general manager and sales manager, requesting my EDRS, owners’ manual and dashcam manual. All of which were ignored. Meanwhile my Tacoma sat undriveable in my garage because my temporary license had expired. AutoNation finally responded to me 40-days after I purchased my Tacoma, on June 17, 2024, only because I copied AutoNation’s Board of Director at its Fort Lauderdale headquarters in my emails. First AutoNation told me, like the owner’s manuals, the EDRS was lost. Then AutoNation claimed my EDRS was miraculously found in someone’s drawer. Next, the same assistant sales manager told me I was somehow to blame for not stopping by AutoNation to pick up the EDRS. Contrary to his claim, I literally read to him the state law regarding AutoNation’s responsibility. FedEx finally delivered the EDRS for my new Tacoma to my home on June 19, 2024, causing me to incur 21 days of DMV registration late fees. Now that I had AutoNation’s attention, I asked when I would be receiving the owners’ manuals and dashcam manual. That was when I received a phone call from AutoNation’s general manager. I explained the story I’ve written above. He claimed to be oblivious to all of the problems I had been experiencing with AutoNation. I called xx and offered to resend to him all of my many emails he had been previously copied on. I finally received my Tacoma owners’ manual and dashcam manual on July 22, 2024, 75-days, after I purchased my new Tacoma from AutoNation. I also received an apology email from AutoNation’s general manager. He admitted to finding my previous emails to his sales manager. What he failed to admit was he was copied on many of those same emails. I think Toyota has a stellar product. However, I believe Toyota tarnishes its image long term by selling their products through AutoNation. More
