I brought my car to Hyundai of Columbus on Friday, 12/8. Employees were very nice, even let me sit in their break room so I wouldn't have to hear two TV's and a radio. I told them that I had initially allowed a mechanic elsewhere to listen and look under the hood and he said the water pump was going bad. That is exactly what I told the service rep and the mechanic at Hyundai. After 3 1/2 hours they told me everything was fine, that if anything was wrong I'd have warning lights, and that they only needed to replace water in the tank with coolant. How did water get in there? I can only say that nobody but Hyundai has ever performed service on my car. So, I drove home with this awful noise still under my hood, which they had said was normal. The next morning I drove to Columbus, made one stop and drove home. The noise under the hood was loud. I thought about it and after a while I called the sales rep and told him something was wrong. He told me to bring it back. Before I could get there the car ran hot and I had to park and call a wrecker to get me to Hyundai. The part of the water pump that I could see was very loose and wobbly, and they pointed out that the belt was missing. The service rep was nice enough to let me have a loaner but now I'm facing replacement of the water pump, new coolant, and possible damage to the engine. The really sad thing is that I will never again trust the Hyundai mechanics, which also means I won't be able to trust my car. The service rep just called me, 11:20 AM, Monday 12/11, and said he has "discounted" the price of water pump and belt replacement to $700+, nearly $800.00. More
