Ever go to a dealership to get your car serviced and your anxiously waiting for the service writer to come out and give you a laundry list of things that need to get fixed...yep...it happened. Except in this anxiously waiting for the service writer to come out and give you a laundry list of things that need to get fixed...yep...it happened. Except in this case you have an over zealous technician, who was probably instructed to “find something wrong the car has almost 60k on” so I can completely blame them. BUT - make sure your customer isn’t someone who has worked in the auto industry, including a service department, for 15 years. If you fail a vehicle for inspection then make sure it’s actually something the customer can’t check themselves. Rusted rotors that are 11 months old and the pads have 6mm left on them (pads and rotors were changed at the same time). I can easily check this. Streaky wiper blades - again easily checked (FYI - they’re not streaky). Also charging $65 to replace wiper blades - are the blade arms made from Captain America’s shield? Listen I know dealership service departments are more expensive and I understand the “up sell” that a service writer needs to do. But make sure you’re up selling stuff that can’t be questioned or checked by the customer themselves. I know you don’t need my business and after having purchased 4 vehicles from your dealership this will be my last. I prefer supporting service departments attached to dealerships but not when there is a blatant disregard for common sense. More
