Everyone at the dealership was extremely friendly, patient, and informative. Buying a car can be stressful, but they went out of their way to make sure I had all my questions answered and I was comfo patient, and informative. I booked an appointment for an oil change. When I arrived, the clerk asked whether I wanted my tires rotated, but I declined since I have a set of snow tires and I rotate my own tires seasonal When I arrived, the clerk asked whether I wanted my tires rotated, but I declined since I have a set of snow tires and I rotate my own tires seasonally as I install them. When I picked-up my car, I was give a sheaf of papers that included a work order, on which was printed "set tires." I went back inside to ask the clerk what this meant, and she explained that they had set the tires' air pressure. I was a bit irked as I had checked the pressures myself about two weeks ago when I installed them, but I decided to say nothing. Once I drove off, I noticed right away that the steering felt heavy, so I pulled into a nearby lot to check their pressure with the gauge I keep in the center console. Clockwise from driver's front, they read 24, 26, 26, and 27. So I drove to a nearby station and paid $1.50 in quarters to crouch in the rain and inflate my tires back to the 32 lbs that the manufacturer (2015 Volkswagen Golf 1.8l) recommends, and that they had held when I first dropped it off. When I got home, I took a harder look at the report I had been given which indicated that the pressures were supposedly set at 26 lbs all around. Curious, and thinking that there was some explanation I did some searching online, but have found no model of Golf for any recent year nor with any wheel/tire combination for which 26 lbs is the recommended tire pressure. There seems to be no such car, and this report has every detail concerning my car correct, down to the VIN. Meanwhile, there is also included in the sheaf an "inspection form" which is a checklist of 39 items from brake pad thickness to upholstery condition. Of the two items left blank, one is "Clutch operation (if equipped.)" Since my car has a manual shift and clutch, and someone had to drive the car into the garage, and since I know the clutch is operating properly, I don't see how it wasn't checked, since there's no other way to check it, short of pulling the transmission. Furthermore, the car currently has a fault that causes a warning to be displayed every time a turn signal is activated when the headlights are switched on, but "bulbs and lights" are marked as "checked and OK at this time" on this form I was given. One might be led to think that none of the items were actually checked, but among them is "wiper operation... including rear (if applicable)" and my rear wiper was left switched on, and I never turn it on. So, this week-end I will go out myself and check my fuel filler cap gasket, my CV joint boots, my battery terminals, and all of the rest of the items on the list, not because there should be anything wrong with them, but because I'm afraid that the same technician who inexplicably sought to set my tires' pressures at 26 lbs but failed might have touched all those other items as well, including "Transmission... check fluid level..." etc. When the clerk asked whether I wanted my tires rotated, she might have mentioned these 39 other items but did not, so I infer that they are not optional. When I bring my car in for an oil change, I understand that Autofair sees an opportunity to score additional revenue, but I haven't given licence to deflate my tires and fool with the rest of the car. The car belongs to me, and not to Autofair Volkswagen nor AMSI. It's too bad, because in the past several years I've bought two new cars from this dealership, and referred two additional sales plus a lease. That's 5 cars in 7 years. There won't be another. More
