The 2022 model is completely new and its styling is more streamlined than the outgoing generation's, featuring LED headlamps and a windshield with a more aggressive rake. Although the NX shares its chassis and powertrains with the Toyota RAV4, the Lexus more closely resembles the brand's small UX crossover, albeit taller and wider. Lexus offers the 2022 model with two different gasoline-powered engines and also two different hybrids, one of which is a plug-in. The freshly minted 2022 NX poses a bigger threat to rival small luxury-brand SUVs, namely the Audi Q3, the BMW X1, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class, than its predecessor did. Lexus has completely redesigned its subcompact SUV for the 2022 model year. The NX 350 is an all-around solid compact luxury SUV boasting an upscale, high-quality interior and plenty of standard driver assistance features. We tested the F Sport version and found it provides a pleasing balance of comfort and capability. The NX 350 F Sport, which is what we tested, feels taut and secure without being overly stiff-riding. The F Sport also comes with special seats that have more bolstering but are just as soft and comfortable as the ones in a standard NX. The load area for the NX is nice and wide and the cargo area is free of wheelwell intrusions, making it easy to load wide, bulky objects. The NX 350 not only comes standard with all-wheel drive (some similarly priced competitors do not), but it also includes an impressive array of advanced driver safety technologies. Impeccable interior build quality is another bonus. There is no question about build quality and the general stress-free nature we've come to expect from the brand. While competitors offer SUVs that strongly favor luxury over sport, or vice versa, the NX manages to offer a little bit of both without any real detriment.
