The resulting vehicle was a fabulous sports car well-known to pull hard in any gear thanks to its 3.0L Flat-6 derived from the 1974 911 Turbo along with the driving feel and handling expected of a 911. All without compromising on comfort, as ever more luxury features become standard. For the US market, power was limited to 180hp due to emissions restrictions. The European-spec cars, however, offered 204hp and a wider torque band for far superior drivability and performance. All told, the 911 SC sold in sufficient quantities to prove that the 911 still had a place in the companys portfolio, thereby paving the way for the 911s future.
