Certified by Jerry MacNeish in January 2020, this Camaro Z/28 was an unrestored survivor in need of a complete restoration. MacNeish verified that the car retained its original, factory-installed engine, transmission, and rear axle. The car was purchased in Iowa, where the restoration process began in late 2020. A rotisserie restoration of the exterior body, floors, and engine compartment was performed, and the car was refinished in its original Cortez Silver with black stripes by 2021. In February 2021, the Z/28 was acquired in Iowa with the exterior paint and stripes completed but still requiring component restoration. The intent was to restore the car with precision, preparing it for Bloomington Gold and Camaro Nationals Legends Judging in 2022. The restoration was executed with extreme attention to detail, ensuring all components and date codes aligned with the carâs build date, as verified in Jerry MacNeishâs report. Approximately 243,000 Camaros were produced in 1969, and many parts had very tight date code tolerances. Most dated components on this car were within 2â3 weeks prior to the build date, which is essential for top-level judging like Legends Judging. At Bloomington Gold 2022, the Z/28 was awarded Gold certification after a rigorous inspection
