Seller's Comments
The 1968 Porsche 911 L was a one-year-only model built exclusively for the U.S. market to comply with stricter emissions and safety regulations. Limited to just 499 examples, the L (short for Luxe) was essentially the European 911S but fitted with an air-pump-equipped 1,991-cc flat-six engine producing 130 hp and a top speed of 131 mph. It was the most expensive Porsche available in the U.S., priced $600 above previous models, and quickly became a collectible classic. Easily recognizable by its small side-marker lights, the 911L featured luxury touches such as polished aluminum window frames, a black steering wheel, and brushed aluminum dash trim. A rare matching-numbers example, chassis no. 11805220 was completed on February 13, 1968, in Polo Red (Code 6802) with a black leatherette interior. 57,066 miles original miles, fully documented from the original purchase date. Equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, it also featured a Blaupunkt radio, loudspeaker, antenna, driver and passenger headrests, tinted glass, and a ski/luggage rack(not pictured). Verified by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this exceptional 911L stands as a testament to Porsches blend of luxury, performance, and exclusivity.
