Under the direction of Justin and Howard, Donna Lee and her desk partner Nestor made sure that my trade in was assessed at fair market value. From there, they delivered a beautiful truck to me with a deal I couldn't refuse. Customer service has many components, it's not just a smile and handshake. They went the extra mile by listening to my needs and we're consistently kind, curtious and sincere in understanding my needs. The service manager, Vince also was a true professional taking care of me going above and beyond. The car business gets a bad rap sometimes because of negative experiences. Let me assure you, it doesn't cost...it pays to buy from Phillips Chevrolet in Lansing. More

Not a Good Experience First off, they offered less than bottom dollar for my trade-in which was only 5 years old with low mileage. After an hour or more going back and for First off, they offered less than bottom dollar for my trade-in which was only 5 years old with low mileage. After an hour or more going back and forth, I was able to get them to give me more and make a suitable deal. They evaluated my trade-in as a "Base Model" and implied that the condition was less than favorable. Then when they advertised it for sale, they said it was a "Peach of a Luxury Vehicle" that had been "VERY WELL TAKEN-CARE OF." Then, when I took delivery of the vehicle I was purchasing, the oil life was at 20%. They said they would change the oil and took it to the service area while I completed the paperwork. After more than an hour in the service area, the vehicle was delivered to me with the oil life monitor reset to 100% but the oil was totally black and dirty on the dipstick (I've been changing oil for 30 years-- I know what a fresh oil change looks like-- and this was not a fresh oil change by any stretch of the imagination!). My salesman, T.J., agreed with me that it looked old and smelled burnt and we called their attention to it, but they still insisted it had been changed, but would take it in and do it again to give me peace of mind. This time the oil was clean like it was supposed to be (the service manager insisted that it was clean because it had been changed twice and I got a "flush"-- but it's funny that when I had a subsequent change done at the dealership when it was due again, the oil was as clean with ONE change as it was with the supposed "two changes" when I purchased it). They rectified the oil change situation by giving me added services for the Certified Service provided with the vehicle purchase. I was also told the purchased vehicle would be supplied with a second key, but when I was ready to take possession, I was told they couldn't do it and that the cost of a second key was around $400-- I insisted that if the second key wasn't going to be supplied, the deal was off; they then gave me a second key. I literally spent over 8 hours at the dealership-- the longest I have ever spent at a dealership making a purchase. So, given the deal with the oil change, being promised a second key and then withdrawing the promise until I threatened to cancel the deal, the less-than bottom dollar initially offered for my trade-in (and mediocre price finally received), I do not believe I will be returning to Phillips Chevrolet for future purchases.
