I finally bought a much needed, new used vehicle. I was not looking forward to the song and dance I am so accustomed to when facing off with a car salesperson. I came in expecting the typical bad caricature traits of a car salesman: fast, yet smooth blather, condescension, and pressure to purchase from them. However, dealing with Honda of Downtown Chicago car dealer, Fred Boclair, I surprisingly dealt with none of that. He was willing to work with me on my requests. And when he wasn’t able to honor those requests, he was thorough in his explanations as to why he could not accommodate them. And he even went as far as to offer reasonable alternatives to my requests. That’s refreshing when dealing with any salesperson, let alone a car salesperson.
I also played car buyer offense as well as defense by running a few tests to see how above the board he was with our dealings. Besides being able to correctly present honest facts to confirm my findings on pertinent information that I found online that also aligned with Honda of Downtown Chicago info, he obliged my early request to putting in a new cabin air filter. When I had a chance to inspect the car myself, I did a deep dive into the glove compartment only to find a brand new Honda cabin air filter installed. Whether the new air filter was installed because Mr. Boclair honored my request or the dealership installed the Honda cabin air filter all on their own, I appreciated the unseen attention to detail.
Overall, my experiences dealing with Mr. Fred Boclair and Honda of Downtown Chicago during the sale visits and subsequent maintenance visits have been extremely professional, very pleasant, efficiently to the point and highly productive. Not having experienced that high level of car salespersonship in my eight previous car purchases, I plan on purchasing my next vehicle through Fred Boclair and Honda of Downtown Chicago. I suggest that you do as well.
