Having a R32 that is my "baby", I anguish at leaving my car with anyone. John Paul is the penultimate service advisor that patiently carries out my unreasonable demands and always outperforms my expectations. A real class act that has been my service advisor for my, now fifth GTI! Bill Dolan runs a professional Service Department and actively participates in meeting, greeting, answering questions, researching information and providing a truly positive service experience. Getting service at a dealership IS more expensive that your local mechanic but the feeling of confidence that everything is done according to VW specifications using the proper tools and factory settings is well worth the few dollars. The R32 is an outstanding car to drive and I recommend using the Mt Prospect Service department. More
This dealeships price policies are right up there with false advertising. Upon finding a preowned 2007 camry, online price of $13477, stoped by to make a purchase, after a test drive and usual back and false advertising. Upon finding a preowned 2007 camry, online price of $13477, stoped by to make a purchase, after a test drive and usual back and forth with the salesperson regarding purchasing now- we showed him the cash 1500 downpayment on hand, assured of our own financing, proceded to negotiate the price. First time he came back with a destination add on of 1300 plus a 800 dollar service for cleaning the cigarette smoke out, plus some 999 dollar made up charge. Whats worse, after we stated we are here to buy it and just want the lowest price available, he came back with: 14995 after our down payment as the best price. Now call me stupid but he stated himself that the cigarete service was not performed yet so that was an add on. At that point i told him that we are leaving or he can bring in a manager since i don't speak xxxxxxxx math. Manager got really rude and upset after one in the party asked who he was, so we left, but not before letting them know that waisting people's time and jerking them around is bad for their image and bussines. By the way the car has been on their lot for over 3 months, according to carfax, so i guess if you're a laydown on price or love to make dealership money don't bother shopping there. More
My husband and I went in after a VERY frustrating experience at Grossinger (bait and switch). We stopped in to just take a look. We sat down with Robbie, talked finance and he did not try to tempt us experience at Grossinger (bait and switch). We stopped in to just take a look. We sat down with Robbie, talked finance and he did not try to tempt us with a car we couldn't afford. He was eager but LISTENED. However, Vic tried to sell us covereage we didn't want (and made that very clear at the beginning) and went on for 10 minutes until I finally told him I was not interested and if he kept on we were ready to walk. Overall, the sales team was great, the negotiation was not difficult (we won - and I did A LOT of research), and the car was given to us looking beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this dealership. Ask for Robbie. He was amazing! By the way...we LOVE our car! We've put 100+ miles on it 2 days just to "open her up". More
From the start, I was not overly thrilled with my experience. I was shown the car (a used Passat station wagon) in the service bay, where the lights were off. Unusual, but I was told it was because experience. I was shown the car (a used Passat station wagon) in the service bay, where the lights were off. Unusual, but I was told it was because the service department was closed for the holiday. There was no owner’s manual, and I was told that I could order one – for $75! The car was also sold to me with no gas in the tank – I wasn’t even able to make it back to my home without stopping. When I test drove the car with the salesperson, Steve, he assured me that this was a “great car in great condition”, as “this is the second time we’ve sold this – we sold it new and took it back as a trade-in”, and that ‘we have all the service records on this so we know it’s a good car”. So I didn’t think twice about buying the car “as is”. Foolish, I now know. The day we purchased the car, it was 90 degrees and raining out, so warm air came through the vents when I tested the heat controls. A week later, when it got a little chilly at night, we tried the heat and discovered it did not work. When I took the car in on June 12th to have it tested, that’s when I was told that it needed a new heater core – to the tune of $1900. The dealership had to have known about this problem. Even though the sales manager, Vic, assured me that since it was not a Certified used car, they didn’t check anything out, do you really expect me to believe that they don’t check basic items on trade-ins? Not only that, but according to the Carfax report, 10 days before I bought the car, the service department replaced the cylinder head gasket. I might have been dumb enough to buy the car as-is, but I’m smart enough to know that head gasket is directly related to the car having no heat. If the hoses weren't connected correctly or if the system wasn't properly bled there would be no heat (and not being properly bled could result in an air pocket, possibly resulting in damaging the head/gasket again). I cannot tell you how infuriating it is to be LIED to. This is a prime example of why people don’t trust used-car salesmen! When dealing with Vic, he flat out told me that “look, you bought the car as-is. The engine could fall out as you’re driving off the lot, and we don’t have to do anything about it”. Really??? Is that the kind of dealership they run here? I was thoroughly disgusted with that answer. I know darn well what “as-is” means, and I am sorry that I was foolish enough to make such a mistake. The whole reason I came to a VW dealership instead of going through Craigslist or some xxxxxxx corner used car lot was because I thought I would get better service and a higher quality of car. Apparently not at Autobarn. When I left the dealership on the 12th, Vic told me he would be calling me to see if there was something he could work out with the service manager to get the car fixed for less. Needless to say, I have yet to hear from anyone at Autobarn Mount Prospect, and don’t really want to. More
I was there few days ago looking for Tiguan. I came with ready numbers for my trade and new car and I asked them if they can at least match the other offer from Jennings. They offer me a price 2000$ higher ready numbers for my trade and new car and I asked them if they can at least match the other offer from Jennings. They offer me a price 2000$ higher then Jannings and 1000$ less for my trade. Manager and rest of the crew was rude, they start making fun of me in front of my family. Finally I went to Jennings and made a deal very next day. More
This is a follow-up to my previous comments, which I wrote in the middle of a very frustrating time with this dealership. We finally spoke to the service manager, Bill Dolan, and things took a completel wrote in the middle of a very frustrating time with this dealership. We finally spoke to the service manager, Bill Dolan, and things took a completely different turn after that! Not only did the service reps and technicians do a splendid and thorough job after that, they also refunded the charge to fix something that broke while they had the car for service. We are willing to stick with them now and not change our regular dealer as they usually do a good job and the reps are nice. We were losing faith because of the string of 4-5 things that happened in succession and having to take the car back again and again, but we are happy now. Bill did get our loyalty back with the excellent customer service he provided and he was very nice to interact with. I would recommend talking to him if your issues get severe. More
After having gone to this dealership regulary for the last 5 year, I am finally forced to write this review and recommend NOT going to them for service. Their service professionals are nice but I think t last 5 year, I am finally forced to write this review and recommend NOT going to them for service. Their service professionals are nice but I think their technicians are just not competent. Also, their rates are pretty expensive and that would be okay if the quality of work made it worth it, but one can get better service for much cheaper are regular places like Midas! But the sad part is that the way these cars are made today, there are too many things that can be only done by dealers and that seems to be a way to make money off of consumers. Twice it has happened that I take the car for one thing, they fix it but mess up something else! They forget to attach pipes and hoses and don't even drive the car after any work to ensure it operates correctly. I will be going the 5th time, that's right FIFTH time, to get something they broke, fixed right and there's no guarantee that they will get it this time! I'm completely fed up and feel stuck with them until they fix this but am definitely not going back for service here. And just like another person wrote here, they did not put my lug nuts back either...that was a long time ago. I wasn't even offered any compensation for all the hassle, time and money even though they agree they messed up... I had to ask for it. More

I felt that the trade in price for my Volvo was very fair, in addition to the purchase price of my rabbit. It was for sure the lowest price compared to other dealers that I visited. Cliff was my sales person whom I felt very comfortable with. Prior to my visit we had several conversations on the phone discussing the details of what I was looking for. Raffi, the manager was very accommodating and went to get the car for me from another lot. I have a very hectic work schedule and do not have time to be sitting at a dealership. The bulk of the work and negotiation was already done prior my arrival. There were no surprises and I actually felt comfortable going in by myself. (as we know usually females are advised to go in with a male) Overall, great experience and look forward to an ongoing relationship. Oh, also love the expresso machine and fruit basket! It comes in handy when I take a quick work break to get my car washed. I would most defiantly recommend this dealership! More
