The entire experience was low key, friendly, casual and unlike any other dealer I've experienced in over 40 years of car buying. To be totally honest, I had found a Pacifica that I really wanted online, but after reading the reviews, I e-mailed back after inquiring and told them that I did not want to deal with them based on bad reviews. After a telephone conversation with Anna, the internet sales manager, I discovered that the dealership had been acquired from the previous owner about a year ago and quite a few of the bad reviews were owed to that prior owner. Still, I was nervous, but the truth was that this was the van I wanted and the others that met my criteria were in Brooklyn and I lived about 10 minutes from Smithtown Volkswagen so I decided to give them a shot. There is a lot to like about the new staff at this dealership. First of all, the management team is made up of down to earth people and not a bunch of high level, slick salespeople full of xx-babble. They created a dealsheet and I was shocked, at first, at the high price they expected me to pay (bottom line). Well, after seeing the CarFax, I realized that I had totally forgotten about an accident that our trade had in a parking lot a few years ago and the damage was considered "moderate" so it was a bigger hit on its value, along with being a car that is not in great demand. At first, my reaction was to think they were trying to rip me off, but after Jimmy sat me down and calmly explained how everything worked and was patient while I asked questions to fully understand how the numbers worked, I was ready to go forward with the deal. They were so patient with my attitude of being ready to find something wrong with them and they won me over. So, we paid more than I had hoped for the minivan, but it was not their fault...it was me not remembering the problem with our trade and, for a while, a miscommunication with the numbers on the price, which was cleared up by the Finance person. The vehicle is wonderful, and by financing a small portion of the cost, we got a free service contract provided by the bank. They bought us lunch and treated us more as friends than customers. I felt they were honest with us. If the dealership has a vehicle we want in the future. I would return to them. More
I bought my 2018 Passat from Smithtown Volkswagen and I travel about 100 miles round trip from Brooklyn NY to Smithtown Volkswagen's Long Island location for service even though there are two Volkswagen de travel about 100 miles round trip from Brooklyn NY to Smithtown Volkswagen's Long Island location for service even though there are two Volkswagen dealers very near me in Brooklyn because of the excellent care and service I continually receive from their professional personal at this dealership. I brought my Passat to Smithtown Volkswagen to check out issues I was having with my radio and GPS head unit which includes the backup camera which was working intermittently. Included in Volkswagen service is their complementary multipoint check where their mechanic/technician thoroughly examined my vehicle and found the antifreeze expansion tank low on antifreeze. After topping up the antifreeze, the mechanic pressure tested the system and detected a loss of pressure. Lifting up the vehicle and removing the sound deading membrane they found a leaking water pump that I was not even aware of as it was a small leak and barely noticable. They changed the main water pump, an electric water pump, and other related parts. Smithtown Volkswagen's staff's attention to detail proactively saved me breaking down on the road in the dead of Winter, their expertise, fair and honest pricing, exceptional service, and the fact they stand behind their work is why I keep traveling the long distance back to them for service. Smithtown Volkswagen has always exceeded my expectations in keeping my Passat safe and running perfectly. This service visit is another example of the service I've always received from Smithtown Volkswagen, and I can honestly say without reservation or hesitation that I wholeheartedly recommend this dealer to my family and friends. I am an extremely happy customer and Smithtown Volkswagen's staff should be recognized for their attention to detail and the continuous excellent care given to their customers. More

Apt was on Monday , made this over 2 months ago, got a phone call the Friday before they didn’t have the part and I should understand bc it’s a recall and many cars are getting fixed. He took care of all of that and he was really competent so I felt secure in him taking care of his part of that plan. The appointment was for 8am and we got a phone call at 9:40am telling us that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. Awesome service, even more amazing customer service from Noah Reed. He asked if I had kids and when I told him I had a five year old son he told me to be sure to take him to see the VW Bus in the showroom. Long story short, I think I'm buying a VW Bus lol. This guy is great! More
