Chris, We did research your claims once you brought them to our attention and we would have been happy and would have even felt obligated to take ownership of any issues that we caused. While the timing of these things happening is terrible, those are both in areas of the car that we did not touch. We were never inside the engine nor were we ever over the windshield. We did explain these things to you, but I understand your questioning these things, especially with the poor timing of when they happened. Timing, in and of itself, does not mean that they were caused by the dealership, either. When you picked up your car you and our service advisor looked at the car and didn’t see any damages to it at that time. In addition, the part that failed is an internal part, which we don’t interact with in any way during a routine oil change.  We’ve found that it is usually easier to admit fault and work on a solution when there is any question as to what may have happened, especially when we are approached reasonably and respectfully with a concern. In this case, there was no evidence whatsoever that the dealership was to blame for either of these things. I would recommend, however, that the next time you think there may be a concern you treat the people that work at any given business with respect and not talk down or belittle them. Our dealership is full of good people who love helping our customers each and every day. There is no reason at all to treat anyone here with anything other than respect and courtesy, even if you think there may be some sort of issue or inconvenience that business has caused you. Most businesses would still try to make things right, especially for customers that have taken their vehicles here for years, such as you have.   Patrick Duffer General Manager pduffer@Group1Auto.com
