Absolute worst car buying experience in 25 years of buying cars, and helping family buy cars at various dealerships. Our test drive went fine, but explanations about incentives between the test drive a buying cars, and helping family buy cars at various dealerships. Our test drive went fine, but explanations about incentives between the test drive and discussion of cost at purchase were inconsistent. Discussions about financing and final costs were misleading, at best, and in some cases completely dishonest. We were repeatedly told to initial estimates on paperwork after negotiating a change and they would 'update the information before final signatures', they would only change it or negotiate when we threatened to walk. Which, truly, we would have if any other dealership had the same model of car in stock. We were told our lender required certain warranties for the interest rate, only to find a different lender on the paperwork AND language on the loan that refuted this. We were repeatedly told that the final cost of the car did not matter, so long as they made the payments low enough that we could afford them each month. This is categorically untrue- the final cost is crucial. It was a master class in gaslighting about finance and pressure. We have called back to discuss with management, only to be redirected to the same person who had the finance discussion and the offer of a 'free oil change to make it right.' The car was 'detailed' before leaving the lot, but we continue to find areas that were not at all cleaned. After sitting in our driveway overnight and open the next morning, the entire cabin reeked of cigarette smoke. The car was considered 'new' as a service loaner with less than 2K miles. Does Shawnee Mission Kia routinely sell cars that are dirty and reek of smoke? They've reluctantly agreed to a service to try to clean the air, but without accommodations for transportation during the multiple hours that this will take. I won't post the names of the individuals who worked with us through this process because no one person should lose their jobs when this is clearly the culture of the dealership and they're doing the job expected of them. We WILL continue to try to reach management and we will not risk doing business with anyone there. If we could trade our car back and walk away never to deal with them again, that would be preferable. More
