We purchased a new vehicle from Shawnee Mission Kia in January 2026, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish. Our salesperson, Dennis Hitt, left during the process without telling us an January 2026, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish. Our salesperson, Dennis Hitt, left during the process without telling us and handed us off to someone else to finish signing paperwork. That alone felt unprofessional, but it got worse. We were clearly told we had 0% financing with no payments for 3 months. Over a week later, the Finance Manager, Chris Barger, contacted us to say that was incorrect and it should have been only 2 months. To fix it, we had to drive over an hour back to the dealership to re-sign everything. He had offered to fill our gas tank and make one payment to make up for their mistake, but when we arrived, we had to remind him about filling the tank. During the original purchase, Dennis repeatedly told us we would receive a survey and that the only acceptable answers were all 10s. When we returned to re-sign paperwork, he again checked on whether we completed the survey and pushed for all 10s. After we submitted it, with one category not rated a 10 due to our experience, he actually called my husband to question why. That is completely unprofessional and inappropriate. We were also told certain add-ons were required because they were already on the vehicle, including IKON GPS. We later found out from the finance manager that some of these could be removed, which Dennis never disclosed. The IKON app didn’t even work with our phones, and despite multiple follow-ups, Dennis never responded or resolved the issue. To make matters worse, the dealership failed to make the payment they promised to cover. As a result, Kia Finance began contacting us for payment. After reaching back out to Chris, he admitted they “dropped the ball.” The payment wasn’t made until 18 days past due. Overall, this was a disappointing and stressful experience. Between incorrect information, lack of communication, pressure tactics, and failure to follow through, I would not recommend Shawnee Mission Kia. More
I took my car in for an oil change this morning. The young lady that helped me was informative and polite. She understood that I needed to get my car serviced and leave at a certain time. She was able to get it done quickly plus found a nail in my tire. That could have been disastrous but she made sure it was repaired. I will probably buy my next car there! More
