Frustrating When I first visited the center, I walked in and stood at what I thought was the check-in counter for 5-10 minutes. Multiple employees walked by, looked directly at me and said nothing. Finally someone pointed me to a desk opposite where I was standing and advised I talked to the person sitting there. The person at the desk saw me earlier, I looked right at them and made eye contact, and they also said nothing the whole time I stood there. I sit down and speak to the guy at the desk (Don I think). I explained the issues with my vehicle, and asked about what would be done. Through the course of conversation I asked about warranty issues with my Kia and he stated "Well we don't go searching for warranty issues". I just wanted to make sure everything was currently checked, I didn't expect much outside of that so it was likely a miscommunication. I didn't appreciate him being snappish, but I'm sure my tone probably wasn't the most inviting either. When he was taking my info and asked for an email, I told him I wasn't providing one. I know most people just provide it without much thought, but given that I provided my phone number and I've been harassed with 4 or 5 automated text messages asking to complete surveys I think I made the right decision. When I said I wasn't providing one I didn't appreciate the look as though I had just grown a third eye and the head tilt as a non-verbal "ooook then". I told him price was a very important factor for me, and let me tell ya, this dealership does NOT like to hear that. Maybe I'm out of line for trying to save money and keep my email private, I'm not sure. Fast-forward to the car being looked over the next day. It was advised I do 3 different types of liquid flushes (brakes and two others) as well as brake pad replacements and everything associated with that for my 30k mile Kia Soul checkup. I checked the manufacturer recommended maintenance and the ONLY one of those suggested was brake pads, and fluid IF necessary. They were asking $420-460 (dont remember EXACT price)- I stated that it was more than I was looking for. I understand where the guy who called me (Tim?) was coming from, I'm sure he deals with this alot. Also the 400+ was just for the brake stuff. His response "Well how much DO you want to pay?!?" I could hear the frustration in his voice. It felt weird to me that it was something potentially negotiable. Are these prices set or not? Regardless, I told him I would consider it and call back. Called a few other places which all quoted at least $100 less. I know it's dealership vs non dealership but for brake pads I'm not too worried, they are simple to swap out. So, I just told them I would pick up the car. When I can hear someone's anger through the phone it's not a great customer experience regardless of situation. The only saving grace to this entire experience was the woman I spoke to when I picked up my car at the end of all this. (Milena?) I dont remember her name exactly, but she was awesome. She didn't skip over anything, went over the invoice in a detailed manner, and explained the why behind things that were done. The car is the second greatest expense most people will ever have, outside of living area, and I don't like working from assumptions or faith that I'm being treated well when car issues are involved. I'm supposed to bring my car in again in the near future, and I'm really dreading it. More
