Romano Toyota: Bend Over, They'll Drive You Home I am Romano Toyota: Bend Over, They'll Drive You Home I am driving a 2008 Scion xB with something like 44,000 miles on it. The first clutch was replaced Romano Toyota: Bend Over, They'll Drive You Home I am driving a 2008 Scion xB with something like 44,000 miles on it. The first clutch was replaced at around 9,000 miles. To their credit, they did repair it at no cost that time. Now, at 43, 276 miles, it is currently in the shop getting its third transmission. The problem in both cases was that when the car upshifted, it took a while to accelerate because the clutch was slipping. When I reported it originally(this time--the second time I've brought it in for a new clutch), I was told by Toyota's service manager that he had never heard of any 2008 Scion transmission problems. Now, thanks to this website, I know differently (see forums). When I insisted on dialoguing with Romano Toyota's Service Department via email, after much wrangling they agreed to pay for half of the new clutch with the following explanation: "To clarify your concern regarding your original repair, there is a factory warranty for the first 3 years or 36k miles on any Toyota or Scion. You had your clutch and components replaced on June 30th of 2008 at 9,368 miles. The warranty on that repair expired when your vehicle eclipsed the 36k mile threshold, there is not an additional 3 year or 36k mile warranty added after a repair is done. The only guarantee I will give on the repair is a 1 year and unlimited mileage warranty on the parts and labor which is the warranty that our shop gives on any repair that we do. I also must stress that we are not replacing the transmission, we are replacing the clutch and its components, which although located between the engine and transmission is not the same thing. Please call me further more with any other questions or concerns if that is possible." In a previous email, they referred to their begrudging offer to pay half the cost as their "GoodWill Warranty." More of a BendOverWarranty if you ask me. If anyone hears of any class action suits related to the 2008 Scion transmissions, please let me know. More
Everyone at Romano Toyota was fantastic. I bought the 2011 Sienna over the phone and the service was outstanding. Everyone from Chris, Andy and Pat really helped me out right down to the delivery of the 2011 Sienna over the phone and the service was outstanding. Everyone from Chris, Andy and Pat really helped me out right down to the delivery of the vehicle. I live in Rochester, NY and the car was delivered to me, reviewed and paper work signed within two days of starting the process. I would definately give the entire dealership an A+. You all are great and I thank you for the service. Shelley Cannuli More
Sold tires that were suppose to be new, but were covered in mud. Said my rotors were melted (found out later they don't melt). Don't care about you as I complained to Toyota because another service shop s in mud. Said my rotors were melted (found out later they don't melt). Don't care about you as I complained to Toyota because another service shop showed me what looked like they had torched my caliphers which caused me over $1000 in repair, and although a claim filed with Toyota and they were suppose to respond - they never did More
I have the prepaid Car Care service plan on my Prius which is good at any Toyota dealer in the country. Last month I took a trip to upstate NY to visit family and it was too early to do the scheduled se which is good at any Toyota dealer in the country. Last month I took a trip to upstate NY to visit family and it was too early to do the scheduled service (oil change, tire rotation) before I left home and it would be too late to wait until I returned, so I planned on doing it while in NY. I had the same situation last year and had the work done at Northtown in Buffalo and they were very nice and there was no problem at all accepting my service plan. This year I planned on doing it while in Syracuse and scheduled the work at Romano. When I arrived they absolutely refused to accept the service plan. They insisted that it was only good in certain states and then they tried to sell me the service. I walked out and since I was heading to Buffalo the next day, I made an appointment with West Herr who accepted the plan no problem. Romano has a lot to learn about customer service. STAY AWAY FROM ROMANO!!! More
I had a very disappointing experience at Romano this past weekend. I negotiated the price of a car, shook on it, signed paperwork and had my credit car charged for over half of the purchase price (we were pa weekend. I negotiated the price of a car, shook on it, signed paperwork and had my credit car charged for over half of the purchase price (we were paying cash). As the very last minute, we were literally minutes from leaving, we were told that we couldn't have the car, it had been sold to someone else. They then offered to make us a deal on a new car. Less than 10 minutes after we were told we couldn't have the car, a woman was driving away in it. I believe the whole thing was a scam - once they saw that we had the money, they thought they could sell us a new car, OR the other lady hadn't negotiated as well and they went with the better deal. Two hours of our Sat. totally wasted - be wary of this dealership, their word means nothing, even after you have put down a deposit! They have lost our business - too bad we are young and new to the area, this is not the last car we will buy - but it won't be from them! I believe that none of this was Dave's fault, he was very nice and pleasant to deal with and I think his management snatched the commission on this sale right out of his hands. More
Wow my review from Romano Toyota can be nothing but the complete opposite compared to all of the reviews below. I was treated with nothing but respect from Brandon the minute I steped in the door. I really complete opposite compared to all of the reviews below. I was treated with nothing but respect from Brandon the minute I steped in the door. I really appreciated that because sometimes younger people are not given the time of day because they don't think you are going to buy anything. Brandon was extremely helpful picking out the car that was best for us. We got a good deal on our trade in and he was not pushy at all. He never seemed too busy for us and I can't say enough good things about my experience there. I would definitely purchase another vehicle there in the future. See Brandon!!! More
This horrible company tried to get me to spend over 1,100$ on new brakes and and change my diff oil. I had just had my truck serviced at another dealership and everything was perfect. These people were 1,100$ on new brakes and and change my diff oil. I had just had my truck serviced at another dealership and everything was perfect. These people were rude and untrustworthy. PLEASE DO NOT GET AN SERVICE DONE HERE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.... More
I had the most horrible buying experience at this dealership. We stopped by on Friday night to look around and meet a salesman that had just sold a freind, his wife, and his daughter a car. He guar dealership. We stopped by on Friday night to look around and meet a salesman that had just sold a freind, his wife, and his daughter a car. He guaranteed to give us a good deal. I didn't like the car that I thought I wanted so I went home to do some research. Saturday morning I called the salesman to verify that I car I saw on their website was actually there since I didn't remember seeing it the night before. We also agreed on a price at that time (about 11am). I showed up at 2pm with a big check from my credit union to buy a $38,000 vehicle. I expected a done deal. he told us that the car had been traded a few days before. He wasted a couple hours of our time trying to see if he could get it back or find another in the area. Once he did find the car for us, he said that even though this one had 500 miles on it, he couldn't honor the deal since the car wasn't on the lot. I was so annoyed at his tactics, that I walked out. He called a few days later to tell me that he was very uspet with me since I just walked out after he spent "quality time" with me!!!! So much for customer service. My husband called the manager who was very nice and offerred to do anything he could to regain our business. Unfortunately, the damage was done. My husband test drove a truck several months ago. The salesmans name was Brandon. He was very friendly and professional without being pushy. We never should have dealt with the salesman our friend used in hopes of saving a little money. IF YOU MUST BY A CAR FROM ROMANO ONLY DEAL WITH BRANDON! (Be warned that he is great and the dealership is not, so I can't imagine he will stay there for long!) Make your life easy though and avoid this dealership all together. Call Kim at NYE Toyota...trust me it was worth the drive! I pick up my new Sienna today and paid less than Romano was quoting! More
While no one at Romano was outrightly rude to us, we never felt that they were willing to work on a reasonable deal. One salesperson answered our questions and took us for a test drive, but never conta never felt that they were willing to work on a reasonable deal. One salesperson answered our questions and took us for a test drive, but never contacted us again (maybe that's a plus). Another sales person gave us considerably low estimates regarding a trade-in, without having ever seen our vehicle. Internet contact was brief and cursory, with ambiguous information regarding prices, although I asked for detail. We never felt that they truly wanted our business, nor did we feel anxious to give them our money. We finally purchased our van at Steet Toyota, nearly an hour away, with much better results and much nicer service. More
I can not urge anyone enough to stay away from these guys, I bought a car from here and the experience of buying it from them was so bad that even though its a good car I get noxious looking at it and a guys, I bought a car from here and the experience of buying it from them was so bad that even though its a good car I get noxious looking at it and as a result will never by a toyota again. Across the board they are bad news. First the salesmen I had never acted like he wanted my business. Sure he ordered us a car (at a good price too) but he never acted like he gave a xxxx. First he told me that ordering a car would not be a big deal, then once he got my deposit of 1000 dollars he became the invisible man. For over three weeks I waited for a car and the only time I talked to him was when I called him to check on his progress, he never initiated contact with me until after the start of the fourth week.
Then the dealer told me that he could not find one exactly like I wanted (we each had a printout of all the options the car was to have). So I asked about post prod. sunroof installation just like toyota puts in and the dealer said 800. so I said ok get one without a sunroof and I'll get one put in since the sunroof was what was holding up the car. The next day a car was there. I went out to look at the car and in the middle of typical syracuse snow and wind the dealer wisked us around the car faster than a jackrabbit, the car, incidentally was parked about a foot and a half from the one beside it (funny that it wasn't inside where we could have been warmer and taken out time going over it). We asked for a printout on the cars features and were told by the dealer that he couldn't get us one since the car was on the lot. After waiting about 25 days now for a car at this point I said ok, but it still has everything that we wanted except the sunroof. The dealer replied "YES".
Before I knew it I was in the sales managers office, finally I would have my car ( I'm a part time teacher and a sub and I needed the car since car pooling was literally making me miss half the days I was offered). The salesmanager said once again reiterated that the car was everything I had wanted, but the sunroof, I said yes, after all thats what I was told by my salesmen. Once the paperwork was ALL filled out something happpened, which in light of all that happened since then I look at very suspicously now. The salesmanager said he recieved a message from the sunroof installation place his dealership uses to put in sunroofs so he would call them back while I was in his office to see what the guy wanted (very convienient). After getting off the phone he told me that my salesmen had misled me, a good sunroof would not be 800 but 1400 dollars. At this point I told him ok but then maybe I wouldn't get a sunroof further down the road. At this point I should have backed out but since I was nieve I didn't. The salesmanager said he was sorry and that if I ever wanted a sunroof he would lend me a rental car when it was done.
Next we left the dealership and told them we'd be back the next day to pick it up. When we did we asked the dealer about breaking in brand new cars ------to be continued in the days ahead More
