At Rockaway Nissan, we pride ourselves on recognizing customer issues and working to remedy them. No company is perfect; it is how a company reacts to a customer issue that reflects upon the company’s integrity. In Gary Jacoby’s case, however, it is he who is at fault. Mr. Jacoby called us regarding a Sentra we posted on our website. He offered a price by phone. We did not commit to his offer, but we responded that we would do our best to agree on a price. We have the phone recording. Mr. Jacoby came in to the dealership, but we did not come to an agreement. Rather than parting on good terms, he called us the next day and threatened to post negative reviews on dealer review websites unless we agreed to his price on the Sentra. Needless to say, we refused to submit to blackmail. He then posted the negative reviews and offered to withdraw them if Rockaway Nissan paid him $500 per review. Rockaway Nissan will not be an extortion victim! Shocked by his conduct, which included repeated vicious, hate-filled phone calls to our employees, we researched Mr. Jacoby’s background. Sadly, we found that in 2014, the Queens District Attorney accused him of hiding his mother’s death to collect $56,000 in Holocaust reparations from the German government!
