I purchase a GMC Terrain on September 23rd from the Cheverlet dealership on route 22 in Union, NJ. I realized about a day later that the navigation didn't work. I told this to my sales guy, Carlos Palonco, when I went to pick up my plates which had to be a couple of weeks later. After Carlos looked at it, he realized the car needed service repair, so he made an appointment for me three weeks later. He said we had to wait for my paperwork to register in thr system, so he made an appointment for Satueday, October 23rd. Before I went to my appointment, I wanted to make sure my paperwork was in so I wouldn't be charged for the appointment. So, I called the service department and they said Carlos would be the one I should talk to. During the process, I was hung up on three times. When I arrived, the guy who helped me asked me what was the reason for my appointment.  I thought that was odd, because Carlos made the appointment and he knew what it was for. After taking a look at my car and noticing there was a SD card in the car, the gentleman tells me that an electrician would have to look at my car and he doesn't work on the weekend. He made an appointment for me on that Monday and told me I would need to drop it off. The reason I made the appointment for Saturday was so I didn't have to take public transportation to work. Before I  left, I wanted to talk to Carlos to make sure my paperwork was in. When I went to the sales department, he was working with a client. I decided to go talk to the manager who sits behind that high desk and waters his plants all day. His name is Steve, the sales manager. I had issues with him before when I was trying to buy this Cheverlet Equinox. I really wanted the car, but hadn't test driven it until days later. When I did, it drove like the transmission was a problem. I told that to Carlos and the manager. I was hoping they would have the service department look at it and fix it, because I really wanted that car. So, Steve, the sales manager, decided to take the car for a that drive. When he returned he said nothing was wrong with the car and when I proceeded to say something was definitely wrong with the car, he told me, "Well then don't buy the car." I thought that was rude and unprofessional. I thought they were in the business of selling cars. Carlos was great, because ineas about to walk away from Cheverlet. He told me he had another similar car that I would like. I wished I had walked away. Fast forward to October 23rd. When I asked Steve about my paperwork being in, he asked me information about me and the car I bought. He looked it up in the system and tells me I am not covered for the service I needed. I told him that wasn't the case. That Carlos told me I was covered. He said, "well where is your paperwork?" I said I didn't have it. I thought, I didn't know I needed to carry my warranties around with me in order to prove which ones I had. We get to arguing. He's telling me I am not covered. Things get really ugly. He's yelling at me and I yell right back. He steps up to me behind his desk as if he's ready to fight me. I look him dead in his eyes and don't back down. Then his manager, Gregg Berkowitz, comes out and askes me to stop yelling or I will be asked to leave. He starts to question me what happened while we are in the show room and Steve is standing right there. I tell him what happens and then Steve interjects. I call him a racist and I over him say his nephew is black as the manager takes me into his office only after I suggested. This dealership has no customer service skills. He should have pulled me into his office and away from the issue. He only did that after I told him too. When we get into the office he starts to take Steve's side and says all I hear is you yelling. I tell him it's due to how his manager is treating me. He calls Carlos into the office and asks what happened. Carlos tells him about my navigation not working and him making an appointment. Why didn't Steve do that instead of going back and forth with me? Answer: he's rude and a racist. Then the top manager takes me back to the service department.  He he handles it as if they were thr problem. He's questioning them why was my appointment made for today if they couldn't fix it today. I tell him they are not the problem but Steve is. Chris the service department manager is the only sane one in that whole building. He told them that I was covered for a year as did Carlos. If Carlos and Chris knew that why didn't Steve?? I walked away with nothing resolved from that assailed Steve and no one has contacted me sense to apologize. Then when get there on that Monday another guy name Carlos D. In the service department tells me I might have to pay for the service m, because it has been past 30 days. I start to angry again. I tell him I've been through this and Chris said I was covered. Well that wasn't good enough for him. I told him why is he telling me this when he can deal with it on the back end and of it comes back that I have to pay then that's another conversation. Before leaving, he makes me sign some papers saying I dropped off the vehicle and I ask for a copy or some receipt. He snaps back at me and says there is nothing. I tell him I need a receipt and he snaps back and said he will make a copy fo what I signed. I'm just so confused about this place. Why doesn't anyone have any good customer service skills? Why is Chris and Carlos the only kind one that I've dealt with there? When I picked up the vehicle on Wednesday I spoke to Chris with Carlos in earshot. I told him of my experience  and apologized and told me why Carlos would have said there was a charge. I understood, but why all the angry and disrespect? I said I deserve a apology s d Carlos yelled, "I'm not apologizing." I said to Chris, "See." The disrespect.  He apologized and said that he trains his workers to not get involved when he's dealing with the client and said he would talk to him. I will do everything in my power to not return back to this location. They are rude, disrespectful and have no customer service skills. STAY AWAY!!
