I had bought my 2024 Subaru last December at NT (and sales dept. was wonderful) and was bringing it in for the New York State inspection. When I made the appointment, I had also said I would need a shuttle ride Home (as I had been doing for the last 14 years at NorthTown Toyota) and they could give me a call when my car was done. Bob was very helpful and When the Northtown Subaru shuttle driver had left at 1 PM, Bob arranged for an Uber to take me home and bring me back. At no charge to me with a very quick pick up each way. I think this is an excellent example of how prepared they are for every contingency. More
I've been taking my cars to Northtown Subaru for service for quite a few years and have been very happy with them, but this was my first negative experience. This visit was for 20,000 mile service. The service writer informed me that the recommended service included wheel alignment, which would take at least 3 hours because they only have one alignment machine. I told him to defer the alignment until my next visit because I hadn't planned on waiting that long, so they should only do the oil change, tire rotation, and aquapel treatment. (I had a coupon for free aquapel.) I hadn't received an update after 2.5 hours of waiting, so I texted the service dept from the waiting room with the number they gave me for updates. I didn't receive a response from them, so I went to the service desk. They told me the work hadn't started yet and would likely be at least a couple more hours. After some more discussion, they told me that the hangup was the aquapel treatment, because that had to be done in the shop. If they told me that when I deferred the alignment, I would have deferred the aquapel as well. Furthermore, they said it would be an hour or two to just do the oil change and rotation because the express lane crew was at lunch and had a couple more cars in the queue. I ended up cancelling the service for that day, rescheduling for another day, and wasting a half day at the dealership. Very frustrating because the whole issue could have been avoided if the service writer told me that the aquapel treatment would cause a long delay, especially since he knew I didn't have the time to wait that day. They were pleasant and offered to call an Uber to take me home, but I wasn't going to have time later in the day to come back for my car. More customer service training is advised! More
