RUN - DON'T WALK TO ANOTHER VOLVO DEALER! Apologies in advance for the lengthiness butI feel compelled to inform and warn everyone about this business. Last year, I found an XC40 online that I was interested in. I am a schoolteacher in MA and thought it seemed like a good deal. Boy was I ever wrong! I drove down to CT and decided to go ahead with the purchase of my XC40 on a Friday. At that time, Volvo had an Affinity promotion whereby teachers get 500 off purchase. The way it works is you give your email to the dealership and they submit it to Volvo and then you get a pin number which they apply at time of signing papers. All of this is supposed to happen BEFORE the signing of papers (Remember that it's important later!) So I gave the bumbling sales guy "Dirty and Fast Mike Pendergast" my email address. Turns out he copied it wrong and Volvo never got it. Keep in mind this is a Friday afternoon now and no pin coming from Volvo. I ask him repeatedly are you SURE you got the email right? He tells me yes. Now it"s getting late and still no pin coming. And they know I am not buying this car without the 500 discount I'm entitled to. So fearing the loss of the sale (they don't want me leaving and driving back to MA without doing this deal!) finally Mike P and the shady sales manager Josh Figueroa assure me that I do not need to have the pin right now. It's okay. We can go ahead with the paperwork and I can submit it later to receive my discount and they'll cut me a check soon. Okay, great. I believed them and took them at their word. BIG MISTAKE!!! Turns out that Volvo would not reimburse me because the proper procedures were not followed. Either they were negligent or intentionally deceitful (I believe latter to be true). So... despite having a document with my purchasing paperwork stating "WE OWE YOU $500 when Volvo teacher pin is obtained" they never ponied up the $500. I spoke with Mark Mitchell himself who listened sympathetically to my story and said "Well if you're owed five hundred dollars then you're owed five hundred dollars!" After a few weeks went by without receiving my check I texted him and got back this response: "I was told that because you didn't have the necessary documentation at the time of sale they declined the claim." Wow. Seriously??? This is the owner of the dealership who has the ability to make things right and that's his response? Five hundred dollars is not worth covering for his inept employees and honoring the integrity and good name of his business?!? Now I will go through the process of filing complaints with the CT AG, BBB, etc. because I truly believe that what Mitchel Volvo did was illegal and unethical. Oh and one last thing that speaks to their business character: they even stated that the add-on $1500 for "Simonizing" is because they need this extra money because they can't keep up with the "big dealers" of Hartford. So it's a hidden cost embedded in the final sales price of every car you buy from them. Shady and sketch. That's another thing I am going to bring to corporate Volvo's attention. I had a very bad experience at our local dealer here in Northampton Ma.This dealer mislead me on trade value and would not stand by there word on the price on the car.I was hesitant to go to Ct to buy a xc Northampton Ma.This dealer mislead me on trade value and would not stand by there word on the price on the car.I was hesitant to go to Ct to buy a xc Inscipton but made the call.I talked to Alex and he was very transparent and did everything he promised.We went to look at it and it was everything he said and was the best experience.Josh in financing got us a better rate than Volvo offered and was easy to work with.I spent 35 years in sales before MS forced me to retire and know the system.No nonsense buying with Alex and Josh.I would recommend this crew to anyone.Thankyou for the integrity you instilled in the process.FRANK &Michelle Tetrault More
After sales support from Mitchell Volvo of Simsbury is ZERO. Had a question about our used car warranty after purchasing a used Volvo from Alex Szerbin. Called Alex twice and he said each time he would ZERO. Had a question about our used car warranty after purchasing a used Volvo from Alex Szerbin. Called Alex twice and he said each time he would pass the message onto the business manager Josh Figueroa. I Never received a call back from Josh. Then I called Josh twice within 2 1/2 weeks and still never received any call back from Josh. During the sale I asked Josh for warranty paperwork and he said it would be mailed to me. I was calling 2 1/2 months after the sale only to inquire about getting the warranty paperwork. A simple question and yet there was ZERO response. Don’t expect any customer service after your purchase. More
