My mother, a senior citizen whose English is poor, purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Elantra from Long of Chattanooga. On February 2nd, 2022, the same dealership performed an oil change on her vehicle. purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Elantra from Long of Chattanooga. On February 2nd, 2022, the same dealership performed an oil change on her vehicle. On February 26th, She noticed there was some oil stain on her parking spot. When she opened the hood, she saw oil splashed all over the components since the mechanic forgot to put the oil cap back on after the oil change. She had to add more than 3 quarts of oil to bring the level back to normal, which demonstrates more than 2/3 of the oil was lost. Such an incident could be extremely detrimental to the engine and other components. We want to discuss with the dealership how to move forward and clean up the mess under the hood. On Feb. 28th, we reached out to the dealership and left the inquiry on its website. Without getting any response, we called the dealership on March 4th and was told Mr. John Rose is the person of contact. We left him a voice mail and Emailed him the details, images of the incident, and receipts of the oil change. Without any responses from the dealership, we kept calling on 8th, 11th and left voicemails without any success. On March 18th, we talked to the general manager of the Long of the Chattanooga and was told John Rose will contact us the following Monday. After another week of silence, we called again and finally reached John Rose on April 1st. We were told he needs to retrieve the files and will call us back in a few minutes. After waiting for an hour, we called back and was told he already left home for the day. After leaving him yet another voicemail, we have not heard anything since then. We are very disappointed by the dealership’s behavior, it’s not that they disagree with us on how to resolve the issue, they are simply ignoring us and tried to just bury it with our exhaustion. Their strategy is to kill the issue before we are even at the stage of discussing a path forward. Minimal effort on their side while maximizing our exhaustion. In the meantime, all the belts, seals and electronics cases are soaked in oil and the oil burns on the engine exhaust to cake up carbons. More
